Hope everyone increases their monthly donation to the collective.
Hah! ….and it will never be enough. I give and give and give and buy and buy and buy their stuff, but it never is enough. Heck, I don’t even want to add up how much I spent on Bobcat football tickets, NIL, infrastructure donations, food for the team donations, QBC, travel for the team after the season donations, team gear purchases, etc., this past year. Not to mention personal costs for hotels, travel, food, etc. I spent around $5K for Frisco alone.
Okay, enough whining and venting.
Oh well, okay, where do I send the check?
Go Cats!
Yep, I actually fear that it could potentially start going the other way. Donors may soon come to realize that we will never be able to compete with P4 schools in terms of NIL money, or even G5 schools for that matter. We can give and give, but with all of that and we still can't keep guys here, people may start getting donor fatigue.
Absolutely true. Was thinking seriously about joining the QBC this next year and upping the Collective as well. Why? To watch key players exit every year? Doesn't make sense.
It’s hard not to feel the same about this. I absolutely support and like what the collective does, but does it make any meaningful impact on big time players staying?
Or does it make the guys that would stay anyway a little more comfortable while they’re at MSU?
If the goal is to retain top talent, I have to imagine that if the collectives income were to quadruple, that we’d still be left in the dust by a large margin compared to what a lot of FBS programs are offering.
It’s just hard to not feel a little defeated in this new landscape, even as a premier FCS program.
The thought process just a few years ago was that if you’re good enough, the NFL will find you, you didn’t need to necessarily transfer up for that exposure.
Now the thought process is more if you’re good enough, the FBS will find you, and pay you, and you’d be stupid not to take that money.
Not necessarily mad at any single player here, just a very frustrating thing that has rapidly changed recruiting and program building in the last handful of years.
