Crickets. Put them on the Bill and Mary list.
First, of all sorry for not jumping on earlier. This was my 23rd football game of the season so to say I'm limping into the finish line is an understatement.

Yes, you guys are much improved from 2021. Congrats on the win.

You have to keep in mind UTM went D1 in 1992. The funding and facilities were not that great early on. I'll try and upload a picture of our old press box. It wasn't replaced until 2016. I'm telling you this not to make excuses for losing Saturday's game, but to highlight how far this program has come in a relatively short amount of time.

I would disagree a little with the statement about our fan base. The local area embraces the university, but they don't come out in droves. Also, some kids do in fact grow up wanting to be Skyhawks. Dresser Winn our QB in 2021 graduated from a nearby high school and he wanted to come to UTM. He passed on a scholly offer from Western Michigan. Tate Surber, who just signed is another QB that's wanted to come here for a while.

I'd also disagree with the folks you talked to, btw, good friends of ours. In 2021 Dresser was playing on one leg, we were down to one receiver and he was hurt and one of our OL was out and his replacement was a freshman. 2024 MSU would've beaten our 2021 51-0.

The Skyhawks will get there I have no doubt.

The video you guys are sharing is our pregame ash ceremony. At the beginning of the season the players write on a small piece of wood what characteristics they want to be known for. They burn the wood and collect the ashes. Before every game they meet on the field and sprinkle a few of those ashes. Now I know that pails in comparison to your guys traditions like the wacky inflatable tube man cam and playing paper rock scissors. I kid, I kid.

Lastly, to address your guys program as a whole. It's time to move to FBS. When that phone rings and the Mountain West Conference is on the other line, you say yes. Montana State, Montana, and NDSU should move up.

Sorry for the long post.

Also Huckleberry Lemonade sucks! Nothing personal just my own unbiased opinion.

I've enjoyed both my trips out there. Also when are you going to stop the California invasion. It won't be long and Montana is gonna be Oregon 2.0.

Three things:
1. Appreciate you coming on the board and bantering. Hope you enjoyed your time in MT.

2. The lame inflatable arm cam and the rock, paper, scissors thing are from the NCAA as that’s the first time I remember seeing them this year. Same thing with the board displaying super cool and not at all lame terms like “sheesh” after plays. Hopefully the rodeo runout tradition was a touch cooler to see.

3. As a born and raised Montanan, I’ll raise you and say all things huckleberry suck. 8)

First of all, thanks for being a good fan and not a troll.

The stuff highlighted was an NCAA video/game, not a Bobcat tradition. I’ve never seen those videos/games before. In fact, we’d never play an opposing teams run out video before a game, that’s all NCAA mandated stuff.

Apparently, the NCAA takes most of the ticket gate sales and doesn’t let us do some of our fundraising stuff, like 50/50 tickets, etc.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

As another born and raised Montanan this is just wrong, wrong, wrong! You should be banished from Montana for life for even making such a statement. You however can be redeemed as long as you agree the gris suck. Hatred of the gris can cover a multitude of sins. 8)

But man I do truly love all things huckleberry! Huckleberry milkshakes and huckleberry pie at the top of the list.

Told you he'd be back. Skyhawks it's been fun. Your program is on the rise and you've got a good coach there. I listened to his podcast today where he talked about his film review and being close with the level of players. I think you had some guys. The 2 receivers, 1 and 4 i think, were very good. Baker is good. 9 is a unit. But I thought the difference up front was pretty stark, esp our offensive line. Great season and thanks for hanging out with us.

Huckleberries are good. @Skyhawks84, that huckleberry lemonade they sell doesn't taste ANYTHING like real huckleberries and I agree it tastes horrible. It's an affront to actual real huckleberry anything, anywhere. Do not let that trash drink taint your opinion of the real thing...

Assuming that huckleberry lemonade sold in the bottle is akin to anything like real huckleberries, is like drinking Sunny D and being told that’s what orange juice tastes like 😑

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

If you think Sunny D tastes good, that undermines my faith in every taste related opinion you ever have!

Also huckleberries are mid (I think I used that term correctly). Wife's family has a huckleberry cobbler thing that is delicious, but a majority of that made in Montana gas station huckle-everything shelf is garbage.

3. As a born and raised Montanan, I’ll raise you and say all things huckleberry suck. 8)

Ya, this all day long. Also add Huckleberry jam and my wife makes a kickass Huckleberry Margarita. Oh, and just a handful of them plain, nothing better.
Assuming that huckleberry lemonade sold in the bottle is akin to anything like real huckleberries, is like drinking Sunny D and being told that’s what orange juice tastes like 😑
Except that Sunny D still tastes ok. That huckleberry lemonade sold at the concession stands is vile stuff.
I like jam and milkshakes, otherwise some people also like tripe, or ludefisk. I probably spelled that wrong but you are welcome to correct me

@Skyhawks84

What are your thoughts on yesterday’s game? Environment? Skyhawks performance? Etc.

Concerning moving up to FBS, nobody wants us, Montana (the entire state) is jut not a big enough media market. The DSU's have the same problem.

I think your team is better than 2 years ago and believe you will be in the playoffs in the future. Good coach building a program, you have every right to be proud of your program.

I could tell that the ash video had an almost spiritual feel to it. It looks like a good tradition.

I agree about huckleberry, the milkshakes are ok. I prefer chokecherry syrup on my pancakes though. Huckleberry is more of a western Montana thing IMO.

Hahaha I understand anyone's dislike of lutefisk but it actually can be very good. The problem is that there are about a dozen things that if done wrong can ruin your lutefisk and make it awful. On the other hand if everything is done to exacting standards lutefisk can be amazingly good.
My parents and an uncle loved the stuff and trained me in the way they wanted it prepared and I took great pride in making it for them occasionally in their later years of life. I think it extended their lives by years. Now with them gone I don't bother with the work of making it very often.

as a true lover of huckleberries, don't read the wilcoxsons ice cream ingredients for their Huckleberry ice cream. most sales labeled huckleberry in stores are blueberries.

Seeing how this thread has now evolved into one about huckleberries, I feel obligated to add my 2 cents worth. As a 4th generation Montanan myself, it is my healthy opinion that huckleberries suck and the infatuation with them is highly overrated. Give me chokecherries over huckleberries any day of the week. My opinion could also be swayed by the fact that I am an eastern Montana boy and have a strong dislike for anything from the NW corner of our state (Missoula on up through the Flathead).
