Would you guys quit quoting a post that is 5 BILLION words long? Makes scrolling unnecessarily annoying. Looking at you big green belligerent.
One thing I’ve started using a lot more is the “Skip to first unread post” button at the top of the page when you first click into a thread. Helps a ton to get by all of those long posts.
But I do agree, I wish the board was setup to just quote the last post, so you could continue to go back and forth but the post doesn’t become 10 miles long.

Big Play Tay!!
If Gray comes back, we will have *tons* of returning experience at Safety and Nickel (even if Dowler leaves, which I think is unlikely)
Just need to add a couple of good corners. On paper, we will be *far* better off that we were last year, where we had almost no returning experience anywhere in the secondary.

Think Coach Greene is headed to NAU. Would assume as DC.
Where did you see that?

I hate all of you.
Well all you not named Tayden Gray. Pumped he's coming back.
See how hard that was?
Also, we won a Natty so all thing considered I'm pretty dang chipper today. You guys are lucky.
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level

So Powdrell and Blake Stillwell are back in the portal. Not currently Cats but Cats from before.
I'd take Powdrell back in a heart beat.
He was the 4th leading tackler and 3rd in passes defensed on a 10-4 FBS team. I am sure he is looking to move up not down

I'm not sure that I'll ever understand the motivation of a player, who just won a Natty, to immediately want to transfer away. I get that there's a potential for $$, but holy sh*t, imagine the legacy if you were able to come back and potentially repeat as national champs.

I noticed a bit over a week ago that he was following a bunch of NAU accounts and players, figured he got the DC job since theirs had left recently to Sac State.
Now today he’s reposting a bunch of their defensive commitments from signing day. So, I’m assuming he’s gone. No official report, but pretty official.

Legacy is probably only important if you are from MT or plan on staying here after your career is over.
Nobody in Texas cares what happens in Montana. I talk about the Cats at work and often have to explain that the FCS isn't D2. This game has gotten some traction online this year but nobody that isn't already a big FCS fan really cares and they'll all forget it even happened by tomorrow night after the next CFP game.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I wonder how viable Gray would be at outside corner.
He's awesome at NB, but is Meredith.

So which QBs do we think will enter the portal? Will Duchien and Chance both stick around for another year and battle it out for QB2 or will one or both go find a field to play on?

Realistically I'd be shocked if we don't lose 2 between now and the end of spring ball.

Exactly my thoughts. If Lamson stays, I think we probably lose Wilson, and maybe even Duchien. If Lamson portals, those two will battle it out in spring and we probably lose one or the other. What does River Warren do? I kind of felt like he came here thinking he was gonna be the future, and maybe he decides he doesn't want to wait it out. Do we keep Grant Vigen at QB, or convert him to TE? He's a big kid; can he catch and block? Plus, we have the Janney kid coming in next season from Oregon. It's a pretty full room already...

That's what I have been thinking as well. Gray on the outside would be awesome. He's got size and speed. 6'0 185 as an outside corner is something we haven't had for a little while. We could put him on the tall physical receivers. I would think he would do well out there.

I could definitely see both leaving. Duchien could easily transfer down in state and they both could fight for a lot of BSC jobs as well.
River wasn't ready to begin with but if he got bumped up to QB2 or QB3 he would have a good shot at the job in 2027 (along with Vigen) unless a transfer comes in and takes the job like Lamson did. We are already loaded with young TEs so it's hard to see Grant seeing more of the field at that position than QB over the next couple years.

If Warren leaves after his true freshman season, that'd be really foolish. Battling for the starting spot as a redshirt sophomore would be a damn good position to be in on one of the 2/3 best programs in the FCS. I'd bet Wilson moves on though.

That legacy means more to us as fans than it does to players. Just how it is. Probably how it's always been no matter the level of sports. We want them to stay to carve out their legacy for our benefit and entertainment. The guys want to set themselves up for the most success possible. We can argue whether transferring achieves that but to expect a kid to choose a legacy over other factors at a young age is not reasonable, imo.

Wilson really likes it here. I hope we find someplace for him on the field to take advantage of that straight line speed he has regardless of position.
Never want to hope for somebody ahead of you to get banged up, but it is a game where you are more likely than not to get an opportunity to play at some point even just parts of games or parts of seasons

I agree that legacy means more to fans sometimes. It's just not a legacy though. I get why players leave, get closer to family, money, dreams of the NFL, etc. However, some of these guys only have a year left and leaving a place where you can make lifelong connections that will help them out with employment, starting a business, whatever, just doesn't always make sense sometimes. I get why they do it though and I don't fault them for it, just not always the best decision.
Legacy does matter in a certain respect though. Dakota Prukop, Isaiah Ifanse, and others that left in their final year or two will be welcomed back, but not in the same way guys who stuck it out for their whole careers.
I know, we also bring in transfers that become Hall of Famers too. Elvis Akpla just did that.
