Troy out for Monday's game...I gotta wonder if this will be his last year. Must be frustrating for him.

I hope he can continue his professional career, if he wants of course. He has lots of potential, however, the game has wrecked his body. If he continues, I’d like to also see him on another team that’s not the Falcons. They are one of the most toxic fan bases around.

Last year's injury was kind of a freak thing. This year, I don't know. Maybe wear and tear-- maybe something he tried to come back to fast from.SparkCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 9:40 amI hope he can continue his professional career, if he wants of course. Hard to believe they'd be career ending unless he wants them to be.
But he needs to be able to get healthy and stay healthy.

He sure seemed to take a long time to come back from whatever the injury was in his big game but as soon as he did he got injured again so maybe it was too fast. Either way, it may be career ending not because he wants it to be but because he's on the last year of his rookie deal and it's hard to see teams wanting to sign a guy that can't stay on the field, no matter how much potential he may have. Maybe he can get a league minimum prove it deal but I wouldn't expect more than that. Really sucks.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 10:04 amLast year's injury was kind of a freak thing. Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
His deal runs through 2025. After that he could definitely find a slot at vet minimum somewhere. Probably just depends on whether he still feels like he could break through somewhere.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 10:16 amHe sure seemed to take a long time to come back from whatever the injury was in his big game but as soon as he did he got injured again so maybe it was too fast. Oh good. For some reason I always thought it was a 3 year deal.RKMCMT wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 11:58 amHis deal runs through 2025. After that he could definitely find a slot at vet minimum somewhere. I think every draft pick deal is 4 years by the scale (except for 1st rounders where the team gets a 5th year option).coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:24 pmOh good. The only rookie deals that should be shorter would be undrafteds I think.

Not necessarily gone, just replaced. They're not wrong to think this way. The Falcons have to bring in someone without Troy's injury history to compete with/replace him and if he can retain his starting job that's great.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 2:49 pmFalcons fans wanting him gone in the offseason...https://bloggingdirty.com/falcons-have- ... -offseason

"Injury history" is a tricky business. Does 2 seasons make you 'injury prone?'Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 2:49 pmFalcons fans wanting him gone in the offseason...https://bloggingdirty.com/falcons-have- ... -offseason
Maybe. Or maybe just unlucky. Not much sample size. That said, I'd be more than happy though to see Troy stake out a safer natural turf venue for the next phase of his career (cough, Denver, cough

Troy and Alex on the same field for the same team. That would be entertaining.RKMCMT wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 3:21 pm"Injury history" is a tricky business. Unfortunately Alex has a long road back from an ACL going into the last year of his deal. He probably won't get back for a full season next year and then his future address will probably be very much in question.exppi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 3:38 pmTroy and Alex on the same field for the same team. Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Troy will absolutely still have a career in the NFL. He still has an additional year on his rookie contract so the Falcons won't be moving on until after next season. If he puts together a healthy season and performs equivalent to pre-injury he will get a solid deal. If he gets injured again next season the following contract structure (length and money) will be interesting...but several NFL teams who had him rated highly out of college and missed the opportunity to draft him will still be interested in signing him as a free agent. Not to mention they'll put on the film and see what he can do while healthy and make an offer. But again, what that offer turns out to be, is a major question.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
This. If the Miami Dolphins are willing to spend a 1st round draft pick on a player that had previously medically retired due to concussions (Jaelan Phillips) there will be a team willing to take a 1-2 year chance on a LB who moves like a WR. Atlanta has every reason to give him a chance to stay on the field next year if healthy as they will want a compensation pick for when he leaves.

Whole thing is a shame. You never know how it would have played out but watching Choate abuse him for 2 years because he didn't know what a QB looked like or how to build a functioning offense was frustrating. Troy may have been a first round pick if he had been on defense all 4 years.

So a torn pec and then a knee injury making a tackle are Choates fault.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 12:40 pmWhole thing is a shame. I don't know, I liked watching Troy score TDs. He may have preferred playing defense over offense but he always looked like he was having fun in the endzone.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 12:40 pmWhole thing is a shame.
