I agree! The problem with "Jersey Chasers" can get out of hand at colleges pretty easily. I hope this makes college athletes think a little more about their actions.velochat wrote:Booze, hormones and minor local fame are a dangerous combination. It always bothers me to see young ladies following athletes around. It might help if some more mature young ladies could let these girls know what a mistake they are making. Sounds like Frank is being totally honest, which is probably his best recourse. The rest of his life will be a real challenge. I hope other athletes and young ladies will benefit and learn from this mess.

Is there even an internet trial to watch out for? I mean he admitted to doing it? Not really much else you can say then is there? Unless it was a bogus confession or something.jagur1 wrote:I suppose I won't be able to talk you guys into avoiding the Internet trial. I see the comments heading that direction.

OK been running all around town all day and just got myself up to speed on some of the
detail concerning this situations. There is very little in what I have found out, other than
Brown seemingly taking responsibility for his actions, that is making me feel any better
than when I first read the article in the Gazette. This is what I do know.
1st of all I feel so sorry for this young woman / girl, no one should have to go through
this, and my heart goes out to her and her family.
2nd To a much lesser degree I feel sorry and disappointed for Frank Brown. So much
going for him and a very stupid (and self serving) reason he may have blown it all away.
3rd I feel sorry for all of the family members, team members, and friends of both this
young women and again Brown. On many levels and each in their own individual ways
this event has and will change their lives forever. They will be need to bring strength and
there caring to help these two people through the up coming events. Event for which
they did not ask to be part of and yet will gladly and unflinchingly come to the plate to do
what needs to be done,
A very distant 4th is us fans. The thing that I really want us fans to understand is that the
disappointment we may have, losing the best point guard in the Big Sky, a player, or such
a wonderful community member we thought he was, it is so truly minor when compared
to what those close to this situation are going to go through. Remember we the fans got
off easy.
My wife has been working with rape and domestic violence victims in Missoula for 14
years, and before folks from “other universities” start coming on this board to trash talk,
let me tell you that most of these events do not always make it into the papers! People in
glass houses and all of that! From my perspective as a Missoula residence with a wife in
the biz she is, I can think of more than a handful of “local” athletes on with rape,
statutory rape, and violence in their back ground!
Good luck, and my heart goes out to all effected!

Wow - the best name I've ever seen (I'm addicted to Steelheading fishing myself) and it sounds like his first post was offensive. Oh well, maybe I'll steal a different variation of his name if he gets banned...SteelheadBum wrote:Edited by kmax...Steelheadbum, keep it civil and keep the personal insults and attacks against other members, even Griz fans off the boards.

Shut the hell up Papa G. Mick had no part of this.Fank came in this program with a clean record and in the past two years showed he was a good citizen and good athlete. For you to put this on mick is totally wrong and bogus. Mick strives on not only getting the best athletes but kids that were modle students in high school and would be great for this community.I would agree with you if frank had previouse problems of any sort but he didn't. This does look very bad for our program and i feel horrible for the players and coaches. I hope they can find away to come together after this ordeal and make a good run in the confrence.I am 100% behind mick

I was not that shocked to see this headline. It been happening for awhile from what I have heard. More may come out as Frank has not been the only one.
I am 99.9% sure I know who this girl is. What I know about the incent is this. From how I understand it her family invites players over to their place quite frequently for dinner and holidays if they have no other place to go. But, a lot of things go unsupervised and this 15 yr old allows herself to be taken advantage of by some of the athletes, quite willingly from what I have heard. The incedent with Frank the other night was not the first and Frank was not the only one. This girl who I feel bad for, brought a lot of it on herself by fooling around at home with these guys and presenting herself as a willing target. Then sneaking out of the house to go to parties with these athletes is not smart.
This post is not intended to berate anyone I wanted to share what I know.

From what i have read doctors have confirmed that Frank indeed was her first sexual partner/rapist. She had no sexual activity before this Monday. Lets not go down the road of blaming the victim. She was/is 15 a child and he is 20 a young adult, he knew better no matter what the circumstances.

I just cringe every time a story like this comes up, and then people start adding their personal insights into it. Please, for the sake of everyone involved, let's not spread any hearsay about anyone involved with this case, especially the victim. It's not our business to know anything more than the police tell us, and I think we should all be content with that. For matters as sensitive and tragic as these, the less we know about the victim, the better off we all are.peedintunnel wrote:I was not that shocked to see this headline. Even though she said she was a virgin I stand by what I said. Alot of times a girl won't want her parents to find out she has had sex before so she will tell the cops she was a virgin. Doctors can't tell for certain either, at least that is what i have learned from law and order.
But moderators please delete that other post if you want. maybe I shouldn't have told what I know about the situation.

Oh come on. Drop this B.S. already. You already stated in your 1st post that you don't even know for certain if this is the same person you're talking about. The paper said he admitted to knowing she was 15, and he admitted to having sex with her when she was passed out. All I need to hear. Please don't spend too much energy feeling bad for Frank. Did coach O'brian get put into a bad situation too? Sorry for ripping you but this speculation stuff is lame. I probably shouldn't have even responded to this and I won't again. Peace.

I hear what you are saying, but there is absolutely no excuse EVER for something like this. Regardless of any possible extenuating circumstances, this behavior is NEVER, NEVER okay! Personally, I would like to see our laws changed to treat rape the same as murder. At least someone who is murdered doesn't have to live the rest of their life thinking about it...peedintunnel wrote:I guess i just feel bad for Frank and other athletes like him when they get crucified for this when sometimes the girl is as much to blame for the situation. Maybe not in all cases or even in this one but it happens.

What I want to know is if the other couple times, besides the one where she was passed out, were consentual or not. If so, I think everyone is blowing this way out of proportion. Granted I find it sick that somebody would have sex with a 15 year old, but it is just one year away from being legal, or x amount of months. If that is the case, then all this is a little harsh on the kid.
But if she didn't consent those other times, then he definately deserves all this heat and punishment. I haven't really been able to tell from the papers if she gave him consent or not, all they said was that she was 15 and it didn't matter if she consented or not.
