I WONDER HOW MANY OF THE 2/3 HAVE EVEN BEEN TO A GAME THIS YEAR? I WONDER HOW MANY OF THE 2/3 HAVE EVEN PLAYED THE GAME?
I KNOW HOW MANY OF THE 2/3 ARE CLUELESS. SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND APPEAR IGNORANT THAN TO OPEN IT AND RELIEVE ALL DOUBT. THIS BOARD HAS A BUNCH OF POSTERS THAT HAVE RELIEVED ALL DOUBT.

Interesting that this is an MSU message board where the fans can comment on the state of our teams/athletics. If you have some insite to this thread that you want to add then by all means add it. At least some fans in here have the balls to express their opinions (and a LOT have very good opinions/points). I'm sorry, but this board isn't all Sugar Coater like EGRIZ. Take some of your own advice maybe? ==> "SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT"GRIZG wrote:I WONDER HOW MANY OF THE 2/3 HAVE EVEN BEEN TO A GAME THIS YEAR? my vote..... and a hello
I vote no. Like Az, am a newbie to the board and say hi to all and am excited to share my views and opinions. Here is why I vote NO. At a low D1 school, who you gonna hire? Probably someone young with no head experience looking to use MSU as a stepping stone and will jump ship as soon as possible for a better deal. Look around college athletics today. A coaching change isn't always the best answer.

If the guy who uses us a stepping stone elevates the program, then so be it. Even if Mick and the Cats win the Sky this year, that'll be what, the 2nd time in 20 years? Winning the BSC title this year might hold the wolves at bay, but he is going to have to win a couple in a short span to win back the support he used to have.stillacat wrote:I vote no. CelticCat, can you give any examples of a program that was elevated by coach who used a program as a stepping stone?CelticCat wrote: If the guy who uses us a stepping stone elevates the program, then so be it.

I think that has more to say about the quality of how Idaho picked their coaches back then. After those coaches left there was no long standing benifit to Idaho. The school benifited only as long as those step up coaches were there and none of the tenures were very long.

The string of coaches that followed Judd Heathcote in Mazola would be the best example. It finally fizzled out with Taylor, but they had a heck of a run. The fact that Krysko was at the heart of that success concerns me. I don't intend any comment on Mick Durham by this observation. I say let's watch this season, which is quite promising. Some of the past seasons when the Cats faded down the stretch had a lot to do with the schedule. Teams that start with a stretch at home often start hot and fade. This team can finish top two in the conference if they stay healthy.

Monson started the trend at Idaho, and it got hot with Floyd and his guys. After Floyd went to New Orleans - Then it was Kermit Davis and Larry Eustachy. Kermit won back to back Big Sky titles. Larry won one I think. But I also know during that run there were many things going on under the table which enabled them to be that successfull. Look at the Vandals now......Running a clean program has Leonard Perry at the bottom of the Big West.Back in the 1980s, Idaho had some really great teams and a few coaches that used this as a springboard. I can remember Monson, Floyd, and Eustachie to name a few.

Even though I have suffered through the Cats' February swoons like everyone else, I agree with Kitcat. Coach Durham is honest, ethical, and loyal. As much as I like Coach Kramer, I know that he would be gone (with his staff) in a second if the right opportunity came along. Leaving us where? Moreover, everyone automatically assumes that Coach Durham has never even been contacted by a bigger school with better pay. I suspect that, during his tenure, out of loyalty to MSU, Coach Durham has discreetly passed on more than one opportunity with another program.

You are right! Who are you going to get that is willing to come on a "one-year" contract basis? No job security, no perks comparable? Why do you think Coach Glenn left a good program at UM for Wyoming? Security and money, especially for his assistant coaches who were making next to nothing. The state of Montana needs to take a look at their policy.stillacat wrote:I vote no. Like Az, am a newbie to the board and say hi to all and am excited to share my views and opinions. On a separate note, Mick should stay..........he is a good man, a good coach and a loyal Montanan!

Look at the team he has this year. Thats right all of the best players on the team will be back. We also get Ted who will dominate in the paint and all of these players would have been playing together for a year and half. Which this year most of them are still getting to know each other. I will agree he has been here for a long time, but looks like he has a winning team this year and even a better team next year. I think that switching coaches is a must in the future, but would only hurt ous the next few years. I don't want us to waste what we have this year or the next few years. So let him stay!!!!!!
Go Bobcats!!!

To harp on one of my usual points, what does the last phrase mean, exactly? Has he simply not conspired to overthrow the state government, or is there a higher bar set to make one "loyal" to the state? How does one fall short of the loyalty test?MSU88 wrote:On a separate note, Mick should stay..........he is a good man, a good coach and a loyal Montanan!

BAC, a "loyal Montanan" is everything you are not, since you were so easily swayed into seceding over to Hell's Empire (i.e., California). A "loyal Montanan" hates anything and everything that isn't originally from the state of Montana, and would never even think of leaving, even if it meant giving up the prospects of better jobs and double wages.Bay Area Cat wrote:To harp on one of my usual points, what does the last phrase mean, exactly? Pssst... sarcasm, people!!! I agree 110% with BAC on this one.
