Be proud of that Jag, be very proud.
Maybe it's this focus on 1-2 main sports as to why they never win the presidents trophy. Would you want to go to a school if you were a track athlete/tennis etc. and play with fans like that? I think not. That just goes to show you how much stronger MSU is in sports than UMM. I guess thats why the Bobcat Nation board has MSU ATHLETICS thread where all sports are talked about while EGRIZ only has Grizzly Football/Lady Hoops
Besides, it's so much more fun being a Bobcat fan!

eGriz happens to have an Other Sports forum. And I'll tell you guys what, you can have the President's Trophy every year. We'll take the football and basketball ones.
I'd be willing to bet UM and MSU have almost identical attendance for all these 'other' sports that you guys are trying to convince youselves that you are big supporters of.
Heck, by the way some of you talk one would get the impression that the stands are packed for all MSU sports. When truth be told, you guys can't even fill the stands for football on a regular basis.

LMAO.
I thought it was becouse Montana uses track, golf, CC schollies on Montana kids so they can get an education and state goes to Cali for track, golf, CC kids so they can brag how good they are.
Isn't the President cup only 2 years old? Didn't Weber win it both times so far? Weber the true strenght of the BSC.

All sports trophy has been around quite a while (don't blame a Griz fan for not knowing this ...

)
However, the Sterling Bank Presidents cup has only been around 3 years and includes sports and academics along with it.

Academics, another thing that has little importance at UM...

It's pretty sad that some griz fans get more worked up over their mascot's success than they do over their track and field team.
Thank God I'm a Bobcat.

mquast53000: You're fairly funny for a guy who moved from Glasgow to Billings to deliver my Pizza. I know you havn't been around, or seen much, but the academics put downs don't impress me. (been over that topic a few times) Also, if you read the article I think the U of M is ahead of state in the Presidents cup thing. State is ahead in the All sports award.

These comments simply baffle me... Moving to deliver pizza, haven't seen much? I prefer coherent comments jag... Think out an intelligent response and get back to me…
Oh jag one more thing, I moved down here to flip burgers and the bright lights of the big city are so pretty...

"Montana State has amassed 121.5 total points in 11 sports, for an average of 11.0 per sport. Montana is averaging 10.3 points per sport, followed by Portland State at 10.2
Academic performance from the fall vaults Montana over Montana State, which is tied for second with Eastern Washington."
Maybe they come for the academics???? Looks to me UM is doing a better job supporting their student athletes. What’s more important, winning these sports or producing quality students?

MSU and EWU battling it out for 2nd and 3rd place. Sounds awfully familiar.

Since when does a high GPA mean the school is doing a better job of educating? I would argue that MSU athletes have a lower GPA because the school is of higher academic quality. Look at the freshman profile for both MSU and UM...it will be obvious which school is attracting the higher achieving students.

Before the Griz get too cocky about there current Position in this year presidents Cup remember this, while the award has only been around for three years this is the first time the Griz have even been in the running for the award. On the other hand MSU has finished in the top three EVERY SINGLE YEAR. In the past years Montana has fallen in that catagory " The score is too low to be published" by the Big Sky I mean anyone can have a lucky year! If we come in behind the Griz this year, thats OK. I know we will be in the running next year and the next and the next and the next. And we are doing it with out the smoke and mirrors of an intersession. When a Bobcat basketball players gets a 3.0, I know it is because he EARNED IT!

You can really tell that there is not much happening this time of year (with all appoligies to track and field). Everyone seems to be working real hard to find something that they can argue about which is good except that you can tell that the fire and emotion are just not the same as during football season and to a soemwhat lesser extend basketball season.

Can we send fan mail, because that was awesome mslacat.

Without the intersession, I wonder how many football players would have been ineligible for spring drills this year. And the Griz definitely would not have been playing UW in the NCAAs either.

While I’ll concede the intersession allows some athletes to qualify who would not other wise, intersession has insignificant effect on overall GPA.
So if you have a 3.0 and attended an intersession class or two, does this mean you didn’t earn it??

Show me a study that compares UM and MSU period. I truly wish there was one. I have
seen numbers comparing average salaries, but never academics It would be interesting.
Remember though how would you compare. Average gpa? If one University average
was 2.3 and the other 2.5 it could be argued that one school is tougher than the other.
Unless one school's stats are dramatically different the numbers would be meaningless.
It is down right difficult to compare a liberal arts college with engineering school.

Good point! I thought of that after I posted it. Lets put it another way. When a MSU basketball player walks on to the court I know he belongs there because he earned the right in the class room!

Bozone might be able to give some people some insight on this since he is/has attended both Universities.
