I wonder if USD will take the same approach as Idaho and try to run a fake punt/field goal or some sort of tricky kickoff? I always feel like we don’t cover these plays well.

Did you see that awesome fake punt by UNLV against Cal in the LA Bowl last night ? Not sure I’ve ever seen one like that before. (It’s on YouTube) sorry I can’t post it.

That was awesome. Punter threw the ball like a 2nd grader trying to make a basket on a ten foot hoop.

The most important thing to know about USD is they’re very physical, like SDSU and NDSU. MSU is very physical too. It’s going to be interesting to see how MSU stacks up in that area Saturday.

Both teams have multiple 1,000-yard rushers and can pass the ball, including TEs that are first team all-conference players. Both teams have very good defenses. The biggest difference is their QB Bouman doesn't run whereas Mellott is a prolific runner.

USD held Wisconsin, NDSU and SDSU to 4.2, 3.5 and 3.8 ypc, respectively.

SDSU is 49th in pass efficiency defense. MSU is 15th.
MSU is 34th in run defense. SDSU is 9th.
(these numbers are probably skewed due to pulling starters early; USD 6 times, MSU 10 times)

I don't think they will stay with us for all 4 quarters. First half might be close. 3rd quarter lead opens up to 2-3 tds. I was not impressed by their QB last week.

I'd say MSU is in pretty good shape on Saturday if they get to play a bunch of guys who aren't even on the team anymore!
