Six of us are flying out of Missoula. Couldn’t find anything better. Some of us considered driving from Helena but didn’t want to risk the weather. We haven’t missed a home game in YEARS! Even had season tickets the year we went 0-11. We will always support our bobcats.

How about by horse?
If driving, will you pick up any NDSU hitchhikers that you feel sorry for along the way? If so, what are the odds that they make it more than ten miles in there before you kick them back out?

We drive to most home games from Cody, WY. It’s an easy 3ish hour drive. Even if the roads are bad, it’s still a relatively easy drive. Bobcat football is my mom and I’s thing and it’s really important to us. Her and I will be in Frisco, just like 2021.

I guess it depends on who you ask. It’s a growth rate that’s probably not healthy, being somewhat beyond the ability of the city to have positive control over its fate, and eating a lot of high-quality farmland. The Big Bad Wolf wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 11:56 amIs that a good or bad thing?Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 11:30 amNo one knows the current population. If you are getting rich from it, it’s probably viewed as a good thing. If you are getting squeezed out by ever-increasing rental rates or property tax rates, it’s a bad thing. If you moved away primarily with a skeletal need for a bare-ground climate and sold a house — well the growth is the catalyst that made the move feasible.
Overall, it’s led to better football — so that falls in the good column. Communities seem to grow or die. Growth is the obvious alternative — but uncontrollable growth is called cancer.

Wow, this pretty much nails it. Only thing I'd add is that homeownership for prospective first time homeowners that are Gallatin Valley natives is essentially currently impossible. 1000 s.f. 2 bedroom starter homes on property the size of a postage stamp are $500k+. It's awful.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:36 pmI guess it depends on who you ask. When we moved to Livingston in 71, we looked at a house in the east side of Livingston for $4500 but just rented for $45 @ month.

I saw a heat map infographic a week or two ago and Montana's the 3rd or 4th most expensive housing market right now in the entire USA. The median home price is 6.6x wages. For the individual/household, pretty much anything over 3x is unaffordable.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 2:49 pmWow, this pretty much nails it. I have a loan schedule template I use a lot for work, and I plugged in some numbers to see how big of a down payment I'd need to get a house payment for a starter home that's the equivalent of my rent. I'd need to put down more than 43% for a starter house, and that's before we get to escrow payments. And that's in Billings. In Bozeman, you pretty much need to be a tech bro.

Re: Crazy questions for Bobcat fans...
These stories are truly crazy. I promise you that the rest of the country is not aware of these things. They think of Montana (much like New Mexico) as a backwards place where people live in self-built cabins and chop firewood for cooking and heat. I am truly starting to understand why you guys hate the series Yellowstone so much. It seems to have ruined things for the people who have lived there the longest and have the most to lose. That makes me feel very sad.

Airfare just got stupid after the semifinals. My buddy booked a week before and got it done on united for 800 a ticket, which is half of what they're going for now. I can say with certainty that if there are such things as jinxes, I'm not powerful enough to conjure one, because I bought mine in October!Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:57 amHoping the roads aren’t too bad from Billings to Denver. Same man. We bought in 2020 and our property taxes have doubled in four years. We are fortunate and can absorb the increase right now. But I just don’t know how retired folks on fixed incomes handle this.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 12:18 amYep, really glad we bought when we did in Billings ( end of 2020), though now my property taxes continue to increase every year, making our mortgage payment go up every year....
