The new TV contract calls for 4 Nationally televised Big Sky games on ESPN, but only 3 can involve Montana Teams. I would imagine Cats/UCD and UM/Idaho are likely. Outside of CAT/Griz, Those are each team’s best conference game (based what is imagine pre/season predictions would be. Bobcats/NAU and Sac St./UM would be the next likeliest games to me with a Montana School for the potential 3rd game.
Long story short….Cat/Gtiz is far and away the Bog Sky’s best game to showcase the conference next season (and let’s face it, most seasons). Would there be any chance we get an 8:00 kickoff for Cat Griz? I’m assuming there is a lot of opposition to this since it hasn’t happened before, but Cat/Griz under the lights would sure be fun!
IIRC, the new contract also has one or two Friday night games in it. If they tried to move Cat gris, would the whole state revolt?
At least people could stop complaining about the state championship games being on Saturday!
I would hope that there's a clause in the contract that Cat/griz can't be moved to Friday. I almost wonder if it isn't even eligible for ESPN so that people don't have to get cable/streaming to watch the game. Unlikely, but the Super Bowl is never on ESPN. That late in the season, and the week before FBS rivalry week, it's hard to believe ESPN would bump a high ratings game to showcase Cat-griz but you never know.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I think Scripps has this in their contract, so harder for ESPN to get.

Who do you think put in that "only three can involve Montana teams" stipulation? Because the best way to showcase the Big Sky conference would be four Montana State games. Every time we're on the screen, it makes it look like half the Big Sky is better than half of the G5. None of the other teams in the conference are as good, which kind of ruins the illusion
That's not a Big Sky game but it's the best scheduled game involving a Big Sky team.

That’s the best game on the schedule. UM game has a chance of being good depending on the transfers they bring in.
I bet we’ll have the best defense in the league. Maybe not statistically since Oregon and South Dakota State could skew that. In league games only it’ll be the best statistically. Defense travels (does great at home), so I like chances next year. We cut down on big plays this year but still gave up some plays this year. The two long runs vs USD, the long run by NDSU, the long run by EWU, the long pass play by UCD, the long pass play by UTM, long pass play by Idaho in playoff game. There’s going to be a few but these were too big and too many. The USD, EWU and UCD plays kept teams in games that should’ve been blowouts. I think Vigen’s mantra was we need to keep those 40+ yard plays to 20-yard plays.
Indeed. I think the defense will do that next year.

You have to subtract out the long pass vs. UCD. That was a gift to them from the official.
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

Unknown at this time, but I'd strongly guess that it will be ISU on 10/11. Homecoming is usually the first home game in October.

4 straight home games in September in Bozeman!
I can see a lot of out-of-town fans deciding not to make the drive to Bozeman for the Mercyhurst blowout on the 20th. And don't be surprised if the weather for at least one of those is colder than it was for this year's 3 straight December home games!
My parents have already decided there's no way they are driving to Bozeman 4 straight weeks. I'm planning to come up for the first two but won't stick around longer than that (if EWU and Mercy were switched I'd make it 3).
Why not?

Certainly wouldn't be the first time it has snowed on Homecoming!

There's only one home game in October.

The last game in September isn't out of the question. I wouldn't make any plans just yet. It should be announced soon I think.

Hotel prices are already jacked up for both possible weekends. Keeping this on Farewatcher for when (if) the algorithm lowers them

Seems like it's a traditional for one night game too. Maybe ISU if the EWU game is homecoming? The best home game will be UC Davis on November 15th, but I hope it's NOT selected for ESPN. I don't want all the extra attention and a late game the week before the Brawl.

Not including Oregon, the toughest teams on the schedule are SDSU and UCD. But they’re both at home. gris don’t look good this year and we might get one of our biggest road wins in terms of margin of victory vs them. NAU might be a challenge. 11-1. No. 1 seed for playoffs.

As good as it sounds cats aren’t going into wa griz and blowing them out…cats are going in there with a new qb that hasn’t played in that environment, even Tommy struggled in Missoula. I expect more of the same of how it’s been going down there, either cats win a close one or lose by more than two scores.

Which is part of the reason why they’re probs going to win by a lot.

Presumably, the QB would have likely played at Oregon. I hear their environment is supposed to be pretty rugged — but hey, not
Missoula rugged, right?

Since 2002 -
First time winners who started most of the season:
Lulay (‘02) McGhee (‘10), Murray (‘16), Andersen (‘18).
First time losers who started most of the season:
Rolovich (‘06), McKay (‘21), Mellott (‘23).
Players who didn’t start most of the season:
Desin (‘08), Bleskin (‘14). 0-2
More than one game at Wa-gris:
Lulay (‘04), McGhee (‘12). 1-1
So 4-3 with first time playing at wa-gris. No blowouts but not bad. We hadn’t blown them out at home until 2019.
