I like the quick turn around for this game. Need to get back onto the field and focus on tackling, containing the edge and getting the Offense back into a rhythm early. SFA is going to a completely different look than Yale, which makes the post season so much fun. Different styles, different schemes, and different athletes competing for the final 4.
I like our chances, and inspite of my pregame posting for Yale, I felt like the game went about the way I thought it would. We won!
It’s great getting them into our stadium at night with a chill in the air…couldn’t be better!
Today was a weird day. Its not hard to see how to move the ball against us and put up yards. Yale came out and executed for the most part but had several costly mistakes. I don't know how many teams will execute as consistently as they did.
On offense, we had a couple shots that were there and would have blown the game open. We didn't get them and put ourselves behind the sticks and let them hang around. And yet in the forth we were up 15 and driving the ball to close out the game. If Lamson holds on there, I think we had finally taken their spirit and were on the way to making it a 3 score game and we're having completely different conversations.
Im surprised that people go so hard on Sterbick about being stubborn when to me it seems like Howe has been having that exact problem lately. Yale has 1 really good receiver and instead of switching gears and putting our best corner on him on every play, we continuously let them scheme him onto a lb or safety and pick up big plays.
Just like Griz game where a few plays went Cats way today it was other way. Fake punt for first down in red ,
Zone penalty. Good drive false start punt, drive to go up 3 scores fumble. Those 3 things kept Yale in it. Thank God for the defense

If Davis wins, every game will be west of the Mississippi.
3 of the 4 quarter-final games will be hosted by Big Sky Conference teams

Friday night lights. Not my preference but gives us an opportunity to see the rest of the teams play and possibly one additional day of rest/prep.
An advantage is that SFA will essentially have one less day to prepare in addition to their travel day. GO CATS!!!

When are the students done with classes? We need that stadium to be packed full. Now I just have to think of a good sign to make.
Punters are people too!!

I don't like thinking that if both teams advance, that is, the Cats host the Gris, ESPN will want to air that rematch on Friday night, too. It would be by far the best choice for which game to broadcast.

Cats have one common opponent in Cal Poly. With similar scores of 35-17 and 34-17. SFA played them at home. One of the more sluggish games for the Cats coming out of the bye week.

Coffee hasn't kicked in, but something about a new home and home agreement with SFA. We'll play at home and then send you home for the season. There might be something there, but it needs a math professor's expert touch to bring it out.

Both semifinals are on Saturday on ABC. I just hope we don’t get the 10am slot.

We’re getting ahead of ourselves here, but…. If Tarleton hosts a semi I would think they would get the 2pm being in Central Time. But who knows.

The Bobcats have been really good in quarterfinal games.
2019: 24-10 over Austin Peay. Not as close as score. Held AP to 0 rushing and 3.3 per play
2021: 42-19 at SHSU
2022: 55-7 vs William & Mary
2024: 52-19 vs Idaho
MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
