Re: Bobcat Portal News
So the portal for our guys will be between the 2nd and 16th, then because they had an extended season they will be able to also jump into that Jan 20th -24th window, or is that just for FBS teams making a run?

Re: Bobcat Portal News
The whole system is ridiculously broken. It's not always the best decision, but it's hard to blame a kid for turning down potentially life-changing money. We've turned college football into a ridiculous version of the pros, except everyone is on a one year deal. It doesn't serve anybody's interests. Hopefully, they can fix it with something like minimum three year agreements with signees. The free-for-all is killing the golden goose and I expect there will be some reforms to return a bit more sanity to the process sooner rather than later.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:41 amJust speculating. It was already gonna be bad, but with that kind of the exposure offers will be pouring in.
Just praying the MT kids stay. Guys like Taco will be getting ridiculous offers. He is extremely loyal……. But there is always a certain dollar amount that ya can’t turn down.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

The players winning a title for the first time since I was a student at Will James takes all the sting away from guys bettering their financial situation and in some cases, academic degrees.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:38 amThis is where I’m at. I don’t want any to leave in a perfect world, but they will.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:31 amThese guys won us a natty.
While I don’t want any of them leave, I’m not going to be too heartbroken either. I’ll be on cloud 9 for a while!
And they were going to regardless of the outcome last night (most likely).
It’d be an absolute kick to the nuts to lose a bunch if they fell short last night. But nothing can take away 2025 National Champs. That helps a ton.
So we’re going to lose what we lose, hopefully it’s not an insane amount, but just trust in the coaching staff and their recruiting and development to have the next guys ready.
This team should be primed for a return trip to Nashville. Losing a few guys shouldn’t change that.
And whatever happens, the Cats will always be the 2025 National Champs.
Thanks to all who choose to leave for a new opportunity, and especially thank you to those who decide to run it back and go for a repeat.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

We joined the BQC yesterday. It’s your turn if you haven’t yet. Do what you can to help keep the program moving ahead.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:15 pmAttention all boosters: This is your chance to showcase your empty promises!

Scholarships have always been a one year deal. I knew of a handful of former players who were told their scholarships wouldn’t be renewed bc they weren’t good enough.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 11:49 amThe whole system is ridiculously broken. My (joke) comment was a translation of what Seth is announcing directed at Utah boosters, not MSU. It's a reference to how some of the portal adventures went last year.

I upped my contribution level significantly (for me) to the BQC and also put some in the excellence fund. It always feels like such a drop in an ocean- sized bucket but I know they count on us little guys to fill the gaps.

I knew what you meant but I also know we can do more. Today, more than any other day in a long long time, it’s a great day to be a BOBCAT!coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:33 pmSee my response to AFCAT above. I'm not saying he will, because I really, really hope he doesn't. But if he wants too, Taco made some serious NIL money with that performance last night. Schools were watching, and his email and socials are probably being hit up hard today...

Re: Bobcat Portal News
That is incorrect. Scholarships used to multiple year (4?) deals. There were issues with players gaming the system. They would get a scholarship only to get their schooling paid for. Then the system was later changed to be a year to year deal. This came from a former player.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:32 pmScholarships have always been a one year deal. Amen. At times it seemed ISU was looking to pass where ever he was defending. (Then again, it could be he was covering their better receiver).
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do, but 48-23 may be the best of all.

He was up against 2 pretty good receivers. His runback of the block was great. I want to be upset with him and the quick portal, but that's what the courts have given us. If we want change call Daines.
