So much for loyalty!!! Jerrry recruited Miya to play at Oregon State and this is how she repays him!!
Jerry should have been the Head Coach when Gant resigned, but the Administraton wanted a Head Women's Coach, so Jerry was screwed over.
I for one will never attend another women's volleyball game as long as she is the Head Coach!! I can't support this type of a coach.
There is always three sides to every story Miya's, Jerry's, and the truth. With that being said, I was talking to a former vball player this morning about this, and she stated word for word the exact same thing that FootballFan posted.
As I stated before I am a big fan of Jerry, as well as Miya. I think the entire situation is difficult for both parties as they were both deserving of the head job.
Thanks coach Wagner for everything you've done for the school, and I wish coach Miya all the best and she still has my support as a coach.

In response to the moderator...somethings just need to be said anonymously. I agree that when you put your name to something there is more accountability.
In response to Cardiac Cats...Yes...people involved with the VB team do read this board.
I disagree with the idea that we should have female head coach just because...if the female is the best person for the job then so be it. Nine of the top ten teams in the nation have male coaches. Florida(#10) the only female. Eastern Washington (male), Sac. State (female)

Thanks for the info. The original post was not trying to stir up trouble. I was just trying to figure out how the coaching was being handled based on what I saw. I mean football does a lot of individual coaching with their assistants as well (you just don't get to see it as much). So I was asking if volleyball was more hands off for the head coach outside of practice/game day etc. Some poster above explained it very well and I was satisified with that.
I agree too, hire the best person you can find for the job. Like I said before, watching the team you can tell they are coached VERY WELL!! I dont' think there needs to be any coaching changes for this team ... that was not my original intent of this post.

That is a great philosophy... assuming that women are also frequently hired to coach men's teams using that same philosophy. But they aren't.

The Chronicle still has not spoken on Jerry Wagner or any new coaching hiring. Any news?
Spring volleyball is showing that we have this excellent veteran team and NO setter. Why did our coach, who was a setter, not develop one of the recruits, or recruit someone who could do the job? What a waste of all the other talent to not have a setter.

MSU volleyball plays a spring season, which like football, helps kids develop as well as serve to get everyone on the same page.
The Bobcats have already played one tournament, and are currently on their way to Pepperdine for a tournament, tomorrow. These tournaments have different pools of competition. They usually play two, 30-point games. Last weekend, MSU played at the University of Utah tournament. MSU split with Colorado State, a perennial top 25 program and MWC champ, dropped two 30-25 games to Utah, before cruising past Snow and Dixie JCs. This weekend, they will face Pepperdine, USC, Pitt and Loyola-Marymount in their pool. USC won the national title two years ago.
MSU has lost the eligibility of Kamber Kelly, perhaps one of the best setters in school history. Coach Malauulu redshirted Brittni Sesler, a 5-foot-10 setter from Alta Loma, Calif, who played club ball for one of the best program's in the nation. According to Malauulu, Sesler had an outstanding opening tournament and was very pleased with how well she established the block.
MSU is gearing up for an outstanding season. They have a very impressive schedule, including the likes of Wisconsin, Missouri, BYU, Cal and Nevada.
Is MSU inexperienced at setter? Yes. Will our talent be wasted because of it? No.

Miya can not hire another assistant coach until July 1st. That is when Jerry's contract expires.

Thanks, Cat Gal. Makes sense.

Nice, but are they all on the road? I fear that once again with the exception of MSU's mini-tournament (assuming we have it) that we'll never see the team again until the 7 conference matches. A more impressive schedule would have a couple other home matches so we can see more of MSU's team. I guess that would be a good argument for expanding the conference as it would create more home matches.
Any good matches in Bozeman to look forward to?
