Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Saw this today on a Raiders practice report, so Tommy has been evidently getting reps...
Special Teams
After two days of Tommy Mellott getting the bulk of kick and punt returns, they switched things up during special teams drills. Running backs Sincere McCormick and Chris Collier got a crack at some reps, looking the part as well.

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Sounds like got it figured out, after game since your going north I'd get on at stadium, will be emptied, after game it will be mostly full by time gets to international due to one's that get in at stadium, BUT also usually not bad for pre-season gamesRUACAT wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 9:25 amThanks... much appreciated! We decided to do light rail for Seahawks and the Friday Mariners game. We're in section 148 on the north side for the Seahawks so I was thinking International District. We're doing the pre-game tour for the Mariners on Friday so will be heading to the parking garage before the game so thinking the Stadium stop, but not sure which station to hit post-game.MSUBRONCO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 9:05 amSeattle native here, been going sehawks games since was 5 def do light rail from lynwood. Need any other info let me know. I'm wearing my MSU jersey or as a broncos maybe Denver jersey and MSU flecce
Also if tell me which section seats are can tell you which of the 2 stops is closest to your seats
148 isn't bad. I'm mid field in 2nd row directly over visiting sideline so have great views of tommy

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
I think he's been getting reps at the return positions from Day 1. In fact I think I've read enough that there is a very real chance that he is #1 on the depth chart at one of the return positions in the first game. Then of course because we all know what Tommy can do with the ball in his hands..... he'll remain there as they begin the regular season. The main question is whether he will actually be #2 at the WR position, IMO.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 9:35 amSaw this today on a Raiders practice report, so Tommy has been evidently getting reps...

That would be wild to immediately start at a position (possibly even 2) that he never played in college and be 2 or 3 on the depth chart at another position he hasn't played since he was a freshman.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 1:12 pmI think he's been getting reps at the return positions from Day 1. Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Special teams coverage units is an equally big factor to the WR position. At no point was Matthew Slater a better WR than any of the guys on the Patriots practice squad, but he had a 15 year career anyway.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 1:12 pmI think he's been getting reps at the return positions from Day 1. Nice! I've always wondered if it would be pleasant working your a$$ off in full pads in 113 degree heat.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Meanwhile, Bergen got the easy button over with the 9ers. The competitive side of me of course hopes Tommy had a much more lucrative career than a gris

Never bet against Tommy Mellott! But let's also be realistic and understand that it's going to take time for him to catch up to other players on the roster that have been playing WR their whole lives. Tommy will be a standout special teams player from Day 1 and the rest will develop over time. Can't wait to watch him play Thursday night!

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Honestly, not me. I love seeing Montana kids succeed at the next level. Ya, Bergen went to the school over the hill, but he’s a Montanan and he didn’t do anything to lose my respect in his college career. I hope they both have big success. It mostly helps all the young kids in our state that look up to these guys as most of them come back and put on camps and other give-back kind of events.

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
A 6th-round pick isn’t a “huge investment.” The Raiders cut a 3rd round pick a few years ago during camp.
That said, it’s the return game on both sides of the ball where Tommy will make the roster, and then he can work on his WR skills. The key is to not lose confidence, because physically, he has NFL athleticism. He's just very raw, even as a QB, with the Bobcat offense not being trying like an NFL offense on routes or progressions, so he hasn’t even seen complex route trees in practice at MSU.

He's where he should be expected to be this early in his NFL career.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 9:04 amNever bet against Tommy Mellott! Re: Tommy to the Raiders
These all seem like ‘trust me bro’ articles. One week he’s doing great, the next he’s not living up to expectations. This last weekend the raiders had a $5 a ticket for the public to watch a practice. Many base their assessments on watching a player like Tommy for 5 minutes as they drool over Jeanty.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 3:12 pmAnd another...https://www.raidersbeat.com/raiders-6th ... -to-flash/

These are all written by people like me. They don’t go to camps, they get all their info from Twitter, it’s dubious at best. If it’s not coming from a beat writer, just ignore it.

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Hondo and Levi both have some camp access and have been writing about the team for years. Doesn’t mean they’re correct, but there is usually some substance behind their articles.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 5:13 pmThese are all written by people like me. That said, they are just putting out content and have no actual inside information other than some observations and whatever sources they still have inside the building.
