I hate when people say "It's just a game". It's not a game. As soon as money is involved it's no longer a game, it becomes a sport. As soon as the participants are paid it's a business.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:25 pmAgreed. It’s just a game. Not life and death. Yup. Right or wrong, this is how I feel as well.
There were a couple times the last year or two I saw some of the recent transfer guys at a cat football game (guys who were still active with their new team, watching the cat team that they left)….
Honestly my immediate reaction/feeling was- why are you here?
Do all of you shun people you’ve worked hard with when they leave for a different job?
The vitriol a few of you have about these guys is quite embarrassing and out of proportion. It’s just a football team.
Five year olds play games. Semi-pro college athletes play sports.
It's everyday (real) life to the people involved, some of whom invest in the program and players. That doesn't mean people shouldn't avoid getting overly financially and emotionally invested but don't act like this is just organized recess either.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

How is it vitriol. MSU as.a program does not generate revenue to support the new buildings, nutrition, recruitment, trips home. So boosters and fans get asked for more money over and over. Expecting a kid to stay after some constantly talk about the program, fans, support, etc and then run off. People can be pissed if they want. What is going to stopNIL is enough boosters realizing no matter how much h they throw at kids someone will do more and he's gone. When they figure that out NIL will come back to reality.PapaG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 6:33 pmProbably because the players are more mature about people transferring for new opportunities than some random adults posting on this board. What would change it is schools making a commitment to the players.tetoncat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:07 pmHow is it vitriol. If you want a player to stay, put him on a contract.
It’s the one sided nature that bugs me…teams have zero interest in making a commitment to the players, why on earth would we expect players to show more loyalty to the school?

A game I pay far too much attention to, and obsess over way too much, but at the end of the day, just a game. I refuse to let the disappointments of the game, which will always be there, ruin my day. I just don’t have time for that. This is just for entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. The Bobcats winning doesn’t make me a better person, them losing doesn’t make me a worse person. Perspective matters. It’s just a game at the end of the day.

Well, it's just a job then. A job is important, but it's not the end of the world if it isn't going well. Jobs are important because they give you an income and stability, but it's not like you can't get a different job. A job isn't your life and if it is you're called a workaholic and the people in your life begin to avoid you. Kind of like when you're too wound up about your favorite sports team.coloradocat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:06 pmI hate when people say "It's just a game". It's not a game. Tomorrow, which will be the 5th day after the National Championship game was played. Overall I think MSU is doing pretty well so far since most expected Moore and Humphrey to transfer.

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
New favorite player! I think more guys need to start announcing they aren’t entering the portal.

This one is a little different in that he was out of eligibility, and then got it back with the recent rule change regarding Juco, but yes I like this.

Can't post the link for some reason but here is a screen shot. I was worried that he would leave.

Bobcat Collective https://bobcatcollective.com/
Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

Collective is tagged in both of those, I wonder if they just signed a new agreement.

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
Wasn't that worried he'd leave, but Polidore is a really good player in run support so I am super glad that he is back.
Would love to see us adding some transfer names right now to build momentum. NDSU has already added two and I don't think any of their players of note have announced a transfer away.
