The most frustrating part of this whole conversation is that dUMb and Boobie continue to teach and practice these various cheap shots year in and year out. Where are the consequences? Is the BSC and the officials group that ignorant to these tactics? Chop block, late hits, shoving helmets into the turf after the whistle, piling on after the whistle, twisting ankles purposely...could go on and on.

Re: Injuries (UM game update)
Rewatching the game, I saw four “cross-chops”, Eiden and Grebe and 45 were always the targets. Eiden got squared up but Grebe took it from the side, hence the injury. Thought it was hyper extension at first. In any case, intentionally injuring a player is 100% BS and to have it only called 1 time wasn’t a great effort by the officials.

It needs to be called out and stopped. Problem is, sure, they might get a penalty, but the damage is already done. Not sure how to fix it.KIX wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 10:12 amThe most frustrating part of this whole conversation is that dUMb and Boobie continue to teach and practice these various cheap shots year in and year out. Suspend Böbbi for their playoff game. It's his program, and it's obviously his responsibility.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 10:53 amIt needs to be called out and stopped. Good news is that according to Vigen Scottre is good to go for the first playoff game.

Re: Injuries (UM game update)
I just don't buy that claim. He came up really lame after ONE carry against the gris. Badly/visibly limping the play after, on which he was a liability. Even two weeks off won't be long enough to heal up whatever is ailing his ankle. He may dress, but I wouldn't play him in two weeks, Cats can win without him. He shouldn't have played last game, shouldn't have even dressed.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:28 pmGood news is that according to Vigen Scottre is good to go for the first playoff game.
Jones, Coon and White are more than capable of handling the load the next month. This team needs him healthy for the semifinals and hopefully Frisco.

We are absolutely going to need a power back against USD, and it wouldn't hurt to have one for Idaho.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:39 pmI just don't buy that claim. 2 years ago he seemed like our next guy to take off at RB, then in comes Scottre and Davis last year and he fell down the depth chart, and now this year with the emergence of Jones and Coon he’s fallen even more. I was expecting him to get some carries yesterday after we were down our top 2 guys, but he didn’t get a touch.

Re: Injuries (UM game update)
The idea of “targeting” is to prevent injuries that could be dangerous — and also possibly intentionally inflicted. The helmet had become a weapon, because the player wearing these safer modern designs became less likely to sustain an injury than the player getting hit. Target someone with the old leather helmet and you’re every bit as likely to be sharing the horse-drawn ambulance to the hospital.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 10:53 amIt needs to be called out and stopped. Think about the Grebe hit (that drew a meaningless 15-yard penalty) as an example — the TV replay was 100% clear. The gris defender took a shot — he was not blocked or otherwise shoved (as he seemed to argue) into Grebe. Isn’t that shot at the knee just as much “targeting” as the head and neck helmet shot is? Call it what it is — 15 yard penalty for targeting, and the player is ejected. The penalty now is not equal to the damage. Who, on a dirty team, wouldn’t trade a 15-yard penalty for knocking the other team’s best defender out for a game — or a season — or a career.
Food for thought.

Not trying to be a smartass, but we don’t need to see a depth chart. Ankle injury, he rehabbed, did pregame where felt he could go, figured out he couldn't at game speed. Kids are playing hurt all the time. Who knows could have gotten twisted in pile on that play.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:39 pmI just don't buy that claim. He came up really lame after ONE carry against the gris. Decent chance you're right but there are several possible reasons a player might not have played last Saturday. That's why I originally asked the question.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 1:52 pmNot trying to be a smartass, but we don’t need to see a depth chart. Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.
