Agreed, not necessarily saying it is a good argument just saying that at least it is a step above the usual arguments that are seen on boards like this.Bozgriz wrote:True to an extent, however, there is no basis to the argument that UM has better attendance than msu due to population proximity. If that was true then msu billings would be the largest drawing school in the state...kmax wrote:At least there is something quantifiable to argue about, we could always go back to the "my school is better than your school" argument.Bozgriz wrote:Yes, it is...Cat Pride wrote:Anyways, this arguement is stupid

More to the original point - this was found on the MSU Athletic Website
Even as summer lilts along, Bobcat football fans appear ready for autumn
MSU fans continue to buy season tickets at a rate that would surpass the last two seasons, both of which set records at the school. Season tickets are sold out in the Pepsi Zone, affordable family seats in the south end zone, as well as the indoor stadium club. Both are MSU firsts.
Bobcat Athletic Ticket Manager Dusty Kurtz indicated that MSU is on pace to surpass all season ticket sales goals.

If the 'Cats are going to take a legit crack at selling out Reno H. Sales on a regular basis, that means this stadium expansion talk actually makes sense.
It's one thing to build up a stadium due to sugar daddy donations from those in upper-tax brackets or misguided state support (neither Montana school will ever see that, but the rest of I-AA gets quite a bit of it). It's quite another to build up the stadium by charging fans to park butts in seats.
The secret about Montana State football that most don't know is that Montana State actually ranked 10th in I-AA total attendence last year. Of course, everyone at Bozeman was too busy looking at what was happening 200 miles down I-90 to notice what happened in Bozeman. If you ask me, that's where any and all problems at Montana State come from.

I finally got on the phone and bought my season tickets today (after forgetting to follow-up on some administrative stuff that held up my initial order a couple months ago). There aren't many left (it was somewhat difficult to find two seats together in most sections), so those of you who don't already have tickets in-hand, you might want to pony up for season tickets before they are all gone!

It is great to see the high ticket demand. I do not believe this is jumping on the band wagon. I think it is more related to people who maybe went to 1 or 2 games realizing they may not be able to get in if they don't get season tickets. This creates more demand and therefore the higher sales.
The bandwagon people that drive us all crazy wether it be Cat or Griz may never even go to a game. They are the ones that suddenly have clothing and attitudes supporting whichever team just because they are winning. Using some of the same Griz philosophy, it would be amazing if they could get this type of ticket sales with 6-5 teams like we have had. They have people support them now that would be long gone if mr. hauck led them to a 6-5 record.

How many games do you make it to BAC? Being in Cali I would think that you wouldn’t be able to make all that many games…Bay Area Cat wrote:I finally got on the phone and bought my season tickets today (after forgetting to follow-up on some administrative stuff that held up my initial order a couple months ago). Last year I made it to two, and will probably hit that many this year (in addition to a couple road games).
I'll just give away the tickets to the games I can't make it to. I have a sister and brother-in-law in Bozeman who generally have access to student tickets, but if they need them, they can have them. Outside of that, I know there will always be people looking for tickets -- especially this season.
It will just be nice to not have to worry about tickets for Homecoming and Cat/Griz, mostly.
My past season tickets were Pepsi Zone tickets that I just donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters, but I apparently botched that this year by not getting them in time (and I can't afford to donate the really good tickets to charity).

Or the people who magically take an interest in November around the Brawl of the Wild, but otherwise wouldn't be bothered to go to any games. Those people really bother me.tetoncat wrote: The bandwagon people that drive us all crazy wether it be Cat or Griz may never even go to a game. When I lived in Glasgow the Griz fans would come out of the woodwork to support "their" school. They wouldn't know a single player’s name or for that matter UM's record. If those fans were cheering for the Griz in just one other game in the course of the season it would be different, but the Cat/Griz game! Those are the fans that drive me crazy, Bobcat or Griz alike.theblackgecko wrote: Or the people who magically take an interest in November around the Brawl of the Wild, but otherwise wouldn't be bothered to go to any games.
