#8 had a fun Instagram response to Vigen's post, as did Grant. I'm sure there is great joy among the team!
I noticed that too. I'm sure that Vigen staying makes it more likely Lamson comes back next year. You never know though, he might get a crazy NIL thrown at him from other schools that would be too good to pass up. But maybe with his past experiences and disappointments at the FBS level, he sees MSU as the best situation for him to complete his college career. Winning a bunch like this season must be infectious to a guy who didn't win much in his previous collegiate seasons. Chambers was similar, said this place was the best thing to happen to him. I love these QBs we seem to keep finding!
I think Lamson stays. Imuch like Julius, he learned to love football again at MSU. Plus, writing in Stanford on lost job resumes, regardless of degree, will go a long way for him in the future. What will be fun to watch is with a more balanced offense, even leaning more towards passing, will we elevate our caliber of recruits even more…
In contrast to Vigen, whom I really expected to go, and whom I would not have been mad had he chosen to leave, I expected Lamson to probably stay, even if Vigen went, and now I'd be pretty surprised if he left. Some FBS school is likely to throw some very meaningful money at him and maybe that changes things, but do you really want to go to your fourth college where you have no guarantee of starting as opposed to being a hero at MSU, having a situation he seems to enjoy, and having a guaranteed starting gig?
Money is important, but at some point, things are more valuable than money.

Tomorrow: "I've decided to become the Co-DC at the University of Texas."
Sick joking aside...Vigen has unfinished business with his alma mater.

I heard tipping point was again the start date. OSU said he has to report next week, and BV said not a chance. Leon and co ponied up for more money for both him and the staff.

I heard from a friend of a player that Vigen spoke to the troops and was very up front about everything. He also apparently said he would coach MSU to the very end of this season, even if it cost him a chance to move to a different program.

I’m nominating Leon MVAD - most valuable athletic director. The guy has made great coaching hires and elevated the entire department. Keeping Vigen is another feather in the cap. I would guess Leon is getting offers too.

I don’t want to be a downer but I’d like to see more concrete information I’m still anxious. At the very least, though, this feels like he won’t leave in the middle of the playoffs

Vigen sticking around will be great for fundraising for the stadium expansion. Maybe if we can guarantee something big there in short order, he might be induced to stick around a bit longer.
Also, just as an interesting aside, don't count out Choate at Nevada. After starting 1-8, they've won their last two, including a 45 point blowout of a not terrible San Jose State team and a big road win at Wyoming. Assuming they lose at UNLV next weekend, they will end the year at 3-9, but their 2 conference wins will be up from zero last year and he inherited a bare cupboard. They lost 3 games by a FG or less, so they were reasonably competitive. The last coach was canned after just 2 years, and I really doubt the AD will want to have such a quick trigger again, especially as Choate is a program builder who improved his record every year he was at MSU. I'd expect Choate to have at least a couple of more years to show that he is the right guy for the job there.

I had wondered that from the beginning. He wouldn't do it last year and I just didn't think he'd do it this year, it's just not his character. Had they been willing to wait, okay, but he's spoken about loyalty before and there's just no way he would walk away before the season is completely over.

That's just awesome, to be a stand up guy like that. Transparent and loyal. He's an incredible example to those young men. For as long as he's here, we should be very grateful!

It's starting to feel like that is going to be his rule at least until we win a championship (or he gets an offer that he can't refuse from a program that is worth breaking his rule for).
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

It sure does seem like it, and that's just a very respectable position. Commitment and dedication, just what you want in a head coach.
