I think this is a concerted effort UM is making. My guess is boosters are not happy with the in-state recruiting situation.

We've already offered I think four from Montana for the 2026 class. Obviously UM or MSU isn't getting the top two they offered as Matt Ludwig is undecided between a slew of Power 4 offers and Jackson Presley committed to Boise State. Here is the current list of kids from Montana MSU has offered for 2026:

Matt Ludwig (Billings West) - TE/DE - 6'4", 235 lbs. (uncommitted but will end up at a Power 4)
Jackson Presley (Kalispell Glacier) - QB - 6'2", 195 lbs. (committed to Boise State)
Elias Bonner (Billings West) - WR/S - 6'0", 180 lbs. (also holds UM offer; MSU offered back in October)
Carter Dahlke (Bozeman Gallatin) - ATH - 5'9", 165 lbs. (also holds UM offer; MSU offered back in October)
