Same. NDSU called the perfect play and created the perfect storm for that play. I would honestly say, my almost 40 year old ass, would have picked up some serious yardage on that play.BornBobcat2000 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 6:14 amI thought the opposite when I saw that play. Field was wide open and it felt like it took him forever to get to the end zone

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
He’s clubby and looks a little lost. Not a great look for a third year guy.

Maybe in a couple of years Miller will be QB 2 and Tommy will be emergency backup QB. Tommy's smart enough to pull it off.

Re: Tommy to the Raiders
Yes, it was Bergen. Tommy was as excited as I’ve ever seen him. Tommy ended up knocking his blocker flat on his back and then got Bergen down where he had some room to run. A really good play. Tommy returned to the 43, he stopped Bergen just over the 30. Good exchange. No wonder Bergen wasn’t looking too happy in the postgame picture.

For what it's worth, here are a couple 53-man roster projections for the Raiders after the second preseason game. They both have Tommy making the 53 due to his special teams ability and potential to develop as a WR.

Do you have any tips for reading the athletic without a subscription? I tried clearing my history and using a private window but neither worked.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 9:31 amFor what it's worth, here are a couple 53-man roster projections for the Raiders after the second preseason game. Wide receiver (5)
Starters: Dont’e Thorton, Tre Tucker, Jakobi Meyers
Depth: Jack Bech, Tommy Mellott
Cuts: Alex Bachman, Collin Johnson, Shedrick Jackson, Phillip Dorsett, Marquez Callaway, Ketron Jackson Jr.
Mellott isn’t ready to play on offense yet, but the Raiders knew he was going to be a project when they drafted him and tasked him with making the transition from quarterback to receiver. He could contribute as a returner as he continues to develop. While Bachman will be more useful this year as a backup slot receiver and special teamer, they likely don’t have to worry about him getting poached by another team. They can sign him to the practice squad and call him up on game day.

Yeah, if they cut him now they should fire someone on their draft scouting dept.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 9:31 amFor what it's worth, here are a couple 53-man roster projections for the Raiders after the second preseason game. No point burning draft capital on a guy you're asking to switch positions only to cut him when he can't contribute enough year one. Have to have patience when you choose to draft projects.

Mellott vs Bergen has a way to go before it catches McCullum (Kalispell) vs Donovan (Helena High). I guess since Donovan went to Stanford and not the Harvard of the West (UM), it may not count to some of you.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 8:22 amAnd Tommy was smiling ear to ear!Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 4:09 amYes, it was Bergen. A 6th round pick isn’t exactly a valuable pick. Nobody is getting fired because of that.RKMCMT wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 1:49 pmYeah, if they cut him now they should fire someone on their draft scouting dept.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 9:31 amFor what it's worth, here are a couple 53-man roster projections for the Raiders after the second preseason game.
