Great interview!
Colter's easily the best sports interviewer I've ever been around or seen in Montana. He's a professional and really knows how to get coaches and players to engage and expound on topics. Coaches all over the BSC look forward to having him at press conferences.
Well... maybe not one of them.

That was my exact first thought as well.
First of all, thank you for the kind words, @TomCat88 !

Also, if you watch all the stuff with Hauck, we mostly get better stuff out of him than the other outlets, for whatever that is worth.

When I get him one on one, which is usually only 4-5
Times a year, he’s excellent.

And if you could see him right when the cameras turn off during those Monday pressers, you’d realize instantly it’s all an act. The motive of the act, nobody will ever know lol 😂
I think the difference is that you ask good questions and the coaches know that you really know football. You've also stayed impartial, even though some of us will perceive a slight once in a while because we're sensitive. Vigen isn't sitting there during an interview thinking "this Griz guy is trying to catch me saying something" and BH isn't having that thought either.

Every time I've seen him be a jerk to a reporter, I have to admit it was a pretty dumb or obvious question. These coaches are basically doctorate level guys fielding questions a lot of the time from people who became "experts" on Facebook or something. That has to get old, and I think 90% of the time coaches do a great job of being patient. Even as a small-town high school ASSISTANT coach I would get questions or comments or complaints from people in the community and I'm just thinking "seriously? You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." Those conversations were nauseating, but if I talked to someone who really knew the sport, I really enjoyed talking to them.
Did you see that last interview? The guy literally said something like, paraphrasing here but, "You have a new OL coach, how's he doing?" Bobby flips his chit and goes full on baby mode... starts mad\upset laughing "haha, you really want me to evaluate my coaches on TV? SERIOUSLY - are you asking me to evaluate my coaches on TV?"

Well it is entertaining if nothing else.
I remember a couple of years ago after the Griz beat us and Bergen had a great day. Vigen was asked by one of those jerk reporters to comment on how he feels now after Bergen changed schools. Vigen said we'll I think this interview is over.

Not a ton of takeaways. There wasn’t a lot of 1s vs 1s, so both offense and defense looked good.

Kickers looked good

That's great to hear! I assume that means he'll be starting vs UNM. Does anyone have any other observations or links to any write ups from the scrimmage? I haven't seen anything out there.

The scrimmage was completely closed. No in house stats or anything. The fact that even the athletic department video people haven’t put out anything tells me it was fully a covert mission haha

Think it is Marqui, Tommy Nilsson and Talon (not a pick, it wasn’t a pick) Marsh.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I've been in a ton of these photos, and with the same photographers that MSU uses. The old guy who takes the pictures can barely be heard in a gym from 40 feet away, let alone outdoors from 150 feet away. You never know when he's taking the pictures because you can't hear him say "1-2-3". With 150 people in a picture you'll never get everybody looking at the camera. Having said that, I'm thinking this is something MSU took with an iPhone. This is just too many people not paying attention...I doubt Crown Photography is going with this one for the official team picture. The nose pick alone would be worthy of a re-shoot!

Good article - and my sentiments exactly as to the initial cause of the team's offensive underperformance the last half of the 2023 season. We seemed to lose the outside zone blocking quite easily, so we lost the threat of using the entire width of the field in the run game and became much easier to defend.

"A Police state is a tyrannical government that engages in mass surveillance, censorship, ideological indoctrination,
& targeting of political opponents." Interesting, if not scary times!
