Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Is it completely awesome, or more super stressful, to have to dive into playoff seeding talk at the beginning of the season, instead of just sitting back, relaxing, and seeing how it plays out come november? Not that I want to be content with the unknown until late in the season, but our whole thing right now is so beautiful, it kind of scares me

Who will have the most rushing yards on the team at the end of the season?
(This feels like it could be a recurring weekly question)

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
You guys both seem to think its obvious that Chambers should be starting over Mellott, and the only reason anyone would disagree with you is because Tommy is from Montana (from your last podcast). So my question is this: why do you think the coaches have Mellott as QB1 (when healthy) rather than Chambers? Do the coaches care what state these guys are from?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I softened a little on this question last night (ep publishing right now). It's such a toss up. I was more disappointed with the change of offensive gameplan from Weber, I thought that offense suited Chambers really well. If we want to run that kind of offense we ran vs PSU and have ran most of the time under Housewright, I think Tommy has the slight edge but if we're running more of that pro-style looking offense that we did against Weber then Chambers is your man. Ultimately I don't mind either one starting. If Tommy does start I wish Chambers had a bigger role than "Chambers up the middle" than he has had in that secondary role this year. My dream offense is probably rollout/playaction for the most part and then Tommy comes in and runs some zone read stuff packages for him, but also Tommy comes in as a gadget player at the same time Chambers is under center. Then when Tommy is a senior he can run the show full time.91catAlum wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 12:06 pmYou guys both seem to think its obvious that Chambers should be starting over Mellott, and the only reason anyone would disagree with you is because Tommy is from Montana (from your last podcast). I do think if the hometowns were reversed a lot of fan thinking would be reversed. I doubt the coaches care at all. I don't think anyone who disagrees Chambers should/could be QB1 is doing so just because of the fact that Tommy is from MT but there is a contingent of Cat fans who will always have a bias towards Montana players, and that isn't a bad thing.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I'm not sure you really answered the question "why do you think the coaches have Mellott as QB1 rather than Chambers" so I'll throw my 2 cents in. When both are healthy, Chambers is the more versatile QB1B. He's also probably the better QB1A but there isn't as much of a role for Tommy as QB1B. Tommy becomes another version of Marqui Johnson or Taco Dowler (freshman non-QB Tommy) while Chambers is the bulldozer who can throw if needed. Chambers>Tommy in both positions but the offense can do more with Chambers in a secondary role.CelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 12:21 pmI softened a little on this question last night (ep publishing right now). Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I guess I didn't answer the question. I'd guess the coaches like Tommy more because he takes better care of the football and is better at the zone-read playbook. Also he is a great leader.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 12:30 pmI'm not sure you really answered the question "why do you think the coaches have Mellott as QB1 rather than Chambers" so I'll throw my 2 cents in. I think you nailed the analysis too in terms of Tommy not being as effective of a QB1B as Chambers is to him.

I agree on taking care of the football. Hard to throw interceptions when you don't throw the ball in the first place! I wonder if Vigen glances over at Tommy whenever Chambers throws a pick (or nearly does). "How's that 'lower body' feeling?"CelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 1:07 pmI guess I didn't answer the question. It feels like Tommy is THE leader of the team but I don't think there's much of a step down to Chambers. He was named a captain after all.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
BYE WEEK QUESTIONS!!
I know you haven't asked for them yet, but I'm getting an early jump on mine.
Holdover from last week that you guys decided to table (I understand why you tabled it, just reminding you) How do you rank the Bobcats remaining conference games by level of difficulty? How do you think each team's strengths and weaknesses compare to what the Bobcats do well and don't do well?
I know you guys don't have any special insider knowledge, but by gut feel, when do you think Taco will be back? When will Tommy be back? When will Scottre be back?? (as a reminder, Tommy and Taco took part in the warmups before the PSU game and Scottre was on a scooter with a boot on) Bonus: With how good Scottre appears to be, in the era of the transfer portal, do you redshirt Scottre if he's healthy before seasons end again?
Does pineapple belong on pizza? Choose wisely....

What is one thing you hope the coaches change in the second half of the season and what is one thing you hope they don't change?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
So my Golden Coolie question is… Do you think having a game televised on ESPN2 does us any favors as far as recruiting goes? U mentioned today that they had the Gris last year at Sac and us this year at Sac. In my opinion if they televised these games Bozeman or Missoula Id say yes. But in Sacramento with half empty stands hell no. But I’m guessing logistics and cost for travel, unpredictable weather this time of year plays into that decision making…Sacramento or southern schools get the nod… your thoughts?Common Cat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 11:08 amSubmit your Golden Coolie questions here for the R&R Cat Cast.
