I just don't see that happening though. We have played 7 games and haven't even slowed someone down yet. That was a win we really needed to steal but just couldn't get it done. Funny how things turn around. A few years ago the defense carried the inept offense. Now, well let's just say things have changed. What is EWU going to do to us. Does their scoreboard have 3 digits because they should put up 100 points.

Lack of D proved to be the big key.

Our luck ran out tonight, get things fixed during the "off" week

Personally, I think our lack of any resemblence of a pass rush is more troubling. Not that either is a good thing to be terrible at.

We can't lose any more games, period. At this point I think that we are going to have to win the Big Sky to go to the playoffs.

I agree, I don't know what we can possible do during the off week to drastically improve this defense to where they need to be. We've been playing for 2 months now, and if anything, we get worse on defense with every successive game.

Whatever happens, it had better be drastic. Kramer and everyone on his staff better take a long, hard look in the mirror, because I think a large part of the blame lies on their shoulders. The coaches are clearly not getting our defensive kids ready to play. I have never seen such a weak, poor-tackling defense. It is embarrassing.

Sad thing is, I don't know how much those guys are going to help. I mean sure, they'll help, but I think our problems lie much deeper than just missing two kids.

Unfortunately you're right.
But those guys (especially Lowe) would help.

I didn't keep up with the thread so forgive me if this has been addressed. What the hell is up with the delay of game penalties (3) on third and short? Is this Bailey's fault or Travis'?
The Cats need to clean their game up in a big way. The stupid mental mistakes are killing us.

I know one in the first half can be blamed on the coaches. The players were standing around looking to the sideline for a play way too long. The one towards the end of the game Lulay took a little too long. He needs to find that play clock and not let that happen.

Of course if the defense just gets a fricken stop now and then its all inconsequential.

Hell of a game by the offense tonight....we need to get healthy on D over the bye week, put a couple of whoopings on NAU and Sac to get to 4-1 in Conference, and then see what happens in Cheney!

Nice call MSU01. That was a tough one. I am exhausted, I can't imaging how our boys feel. Offense overall played great. I know our defense has not been great in the first 3 quarters typically, but I thought they would step up in the fourth. Never quite did. Rubin beat the heck out of them, and they beat the heck out of Rubin. Rubin could barely walk by the end of the game, but he is one tough SOB. I've got to hand it to him.

I really wish we could have put some pressure on their QB, especially on their last drive. 3 man rush is just not going to cut it. Need more blitzing. I would like to see more of LeBlanc - the guy is a big hitter, good tackler, and looks to be a good cover guy (made a real nice play tonight, although I don't think he saw much playing time).

I thought both teams called real nice offensive games. Both D coordinators must be scratching their heads though.

My favorite call of the game was the PI call when PSU scores that passing TD. Granted it didn't matter at all, but jesus christ. He didn't even touch the receiver! The BSC needs to reevaluate their referees and look into some new ones.

On a side note, I think if we get some more D lineman back from injuries, we need to go back to playing more 4-3 defense. I beleive that why we can't stop the run.

...or get a pass rush?

Unfortunatly I was unable to even listen to tonights game, or even check the score. From what I have read here though, our defense flat out got whipped tonite.... Can't wait to see the numbers from this game though, as they should be unreal.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Here is a question for you guys; was the end of the game fumble by Lulay an incomplete pass? I thought it looked like his arm was going forward when he was hit. I really thought that call should have been an incomplete pass. Does anyone have a thought about this particular call?

Even though I didn't want to watch the replays, I did and it looked as though the ball was knocked out well before he started going forward. However, maybe it should be a case of the "tuck rule." As much as it pains me to say, I think the refs made the right call....this will probably be the last time you hear me say that though especially with BSC refs.

Looked to me like he was about to go into his thowing motion. Still, I thought it was a good hit and a great call by PSU. I have no doubt we would have won the game if Lulay didn't fumble. O'well water under the bridge. Just win out.

GO CATS!!

in DIA, they are using a replay system which I believe is automatic on any questionable call in the last two minutes of a half. Is this not the case for any other division?
I could see the importance on the fumble as to whether it was or just an incomplete pass.
