Re: Well we won.
My $.02.
Been thinking about it the past few days as I didn't want to speak off of emotion. In the end, you could look at it like a bar fight...it was a real slugfest, and in the end we squeaked it out with a good uppercut and won.
But...we were one throw to Taco away from being utterly embarrassed on the national stage. The Cats really did sh*t the bed in the second half, and there's really no excuse for not coming out after the half and beating them by at least three scores. ISU is a good/great team, and...frankly...they deserved to win that ball game. They completely dominated in TOP, and that just should not happen.
Bottom line is, we got lucky, and I suppose 'tis better to be lucky that good sometimes. I'm overjoyed that the trophy is back where it belongs, but I wish it would have been in a dominating fashion to remove any and all doubt.
Everyone that I've talked to the past few days has expressed similar thoughts. "Pulled that one out of their a** didn't they?" or "That was really ugly." Not to take too much away from the kids, as they fought their butts off and, somehow, came out on top. But, like the OP, I wish I could feel better about it.
I'm not Vigen's biggest supporter, and this didn't help. He does a lot of things well, but the big game? Not so much.
But hey, the Bobcats are the National Champions, so there's that! Looking forward to next year.

We won the ****** national championship!!! THE MONTANA STATE BOBCATS, LED BY HEAD COACH BRENT VIGEN, ARE THE 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!! You are an absolute tool of a "fan." Vigen doesn't need you to be a supporter. He has a couple hundred thousand others who are. Such a moronic take.Augustus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:09 pmMy $.02.

Re: Well we won.
It was crazy. Somehow the powers that be let another quality team on the field! They went out and found a team that beat the #1 seeded, undefeated reigning national champion on their own field. Included that to win 4 games on the road and had momentum out their earholes. Then, they let them play against the Cats. {shaking my head}Augustus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:09 pmMy $.02.

Re: Well we won.
I was upset as anyone about that second half performance while it was happening. The Cats almost looked like they forgot how to play football, the moment became too big, and it would have been a collapse for the ages.
But it wasn't a collapse for the ages because we made some of the biggest plays in the HISTORY of the program when it mattered. And it washed all that negativity away. And if you don't feel that way, maybe you should reevaluate if you even enjoy sports. Because if you can't come away from this game, after getting so close and falling short two times in the previous 4 years, after losing to our rival for 16 straight years, after only winning a handful of playoff games from 2006-2019, beating the Griz TWICE in one season, including the Super Brawl to even make it to the NC, on the highest of highs as a Bobcat fan, then maybe go find a different hobby. We won our first NC in 41 years and only the second at the FCS level and it wasn't by enough points? Wasn't as pretty as you'd like? Sourpusses.

So does that mean we really won last year because we dominated the second half? If dominant first halves don't matter, why even play them?

Another entitled fan. He called almost a perfect game in the first half and also made the call for the win to Taco. Maybe give him some credit for getting 35 points.

Then keep calling what was working in the first half. Not to the point where you are calling the same thing over and over. But keep building upon the run game in the 2nd half, it seemed to me he went away from it for the most part. Was me saying leave him in Tennessee based too much on emotion? Yes it was. But there have been many times this year where I haven’t been thrilled with the play calls and getting too pass happy at times.

Re: Well we won.
Damn man. We just won the national championship. The OC is in his first year and has improved from early season calls. We won a Big Sky championship. We won 14 games this year. We had an incredible season. The OC made a historic call to win the game. And you want to leave him in Nashville. That is the definition of entitled fan. I am pretty sure that Sterbick and company know way more about football than than you do. And last though on this, but the false starts constantly threw our 4 down schedule off. Hard to run the ball when it is 1st and 15 or 2nd and 10. You need to give the guy a break. Heck man, you should be thanking him for a successful season.2015cat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:54 pmThen keep calling what was working in the first half. Almost every single time they ran successfully in the 2nd half they ended up getting a false start afterwards. It’s not that they didn’t want to run the ball, it’s more that they kept on moving themselves out of run situations, and the passing game had worked very well in the first half so they assumed it would keep on going. It took a bit, but they did adjust to the blitz game.2015cat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:54 pmThen keep calling what was working in the first half. Uh... that's a spicy hot take. Vigen is objectively the most successful and I'd argue the best we've ever had here. Coaches can't make guys not false start. Back to back 8-0 runs through the BSC, have lost 2 home games and 3 total conference games in 5 years, 3 conference titles and a national championship. I can't fathom what it would take to make you happier.Augustus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:09 pmMy $.02.
