If the Bobcats were lucky, then so was UM in 1995 and 2001. UM benefited from a ton of penalties in 1995 and Furman’s stud running back, who it’s offense centered on, played at about 50%.RootinfortheCats wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 12:24 pmI took a look over on that board. I get why they need to rationalize their rival’s success. I would probably do the same thing. What I don’t get is why they are tearing at each other’s throats. It’s a full-on apocalypse over there. Half of them are burning Bobby effigies and the other half are posting about other fan’s families.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 4:56 pmIf the Bobcats were lucky, then so was UM in 1995 and 2001. Not to mention the gris winning field goal in 1995 barely made it inside the goal posts with 39 seconds remaining. They think it was a dominant win today.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 4:56 pmIf the Bobcats were lucky, then so was UM in 1995 and 2001. What year did the Missoula bear rugs play Central Washington who had a quarterback from Kalispell and barely won with a walk off field goal?AFCAT wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 6:34 pmNot to mention the gris winning field goal in 1995 barely made it inside the goal posts with 39 seconds remaining. Re: Finally Just Watched The Entire Replay
It's because most of them know they're screwed. I've said it 100 times but there is a significant gap between our two programs right now. I'm not saying they aren't good, or can't be very good next year..... but it would take a miracle for them to surpass MSU. Overwhelming emphasis and focus on strength and depth of the lines, S&C, nutrition, mental toughness and culture, recruiting MT, finding $$ for players, etc. MSU Has the edge here in all of these areas - and it showed up against them twice this year, and showed up again Monday. If they want to transform that program to be on the same level as us and the DSUs, it would be a multi year project, and they'd need to scrap the 3-3-5. Bobby is too stubborn for any of that.RootinfortheCats wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 6:23 pmI get why they need to rationalize their rival’s success. I would probably do the same thing. Re: Finally Just Watched The Entire Replay
In my rewatch something came to mind...
On the errand snap at the end of regulation, it looks to me me that two of the WRs are moving/not set. Shouldn't that have been a procedure penalty, rather than the result of the play?
Or am I wrong in my observation that there were players moving/not set?

1st drive of 2nd half started good. Then that 3rd and 1 that we try the quick snap and no one blocks the LB. Have to punt when liket we run 2x to try to get that 1st. I think it was designed to look over and then go quick to get ISU off guard. Even FG there I think changes ISU plan to grind it out.

We ran that same play earlier in the playoffs, I think in the semifinal, with a good amount of success. ISU saw it on film and was ready.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 8:37 am1st drive of 2nd half started good. Then that 3rd and 1 that we try the quick snap and no one blocks the LB. They were. Just odd play call when we were moving ball and had a 3rd and 1 in potentially 3rd down territory.110010110 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 8:42 amWe ran that same play earlier in the playoffs, I think in the semifinal, with a good amount of success. Re: Finally Just Watched The Entire Replay
Watching the whole game again today. Still got nervous through the 2nd half, haha!
A few things things I noticed though, and forgive me if these observations have already been made:
1. #2 for ISU was really limited, good coverage on him throughout much of the game, which is why Lord had a day.
2. Cole Taylor is just tough. He got a little chippy at times, but man is he a good defender!
3. Despite knowing they were entering the portal weeks ago, the players who have left, specifically Williams, Johnson, and McMillan, played so very well! They didn't back off but rather played with intensity and a will to win. I didn't really feel that way with the transfer players at the NC last year.
4. Lamson was just a money pick. So glad how that worked out!

Yes, they limited #2 Sobkowicz. He's their best 'player' on offense, but their OL was their biggest strength.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 12, 2026 1:51 pmWatching the whole game again today. Still got nervous through the 2nd half, haha!

They also did a decent job on Dawson, who finished with 29-124 (4.3), which is good, but MSU stuffed him twice on the goal line and he only had 32 yards on his last 15 carries. I think the decision to kick was partly due to Dawson being slowed down and their inability to get in the end zone on six plays from the 5.
Their skill players were good, but I think their OL made them look a lot better than they are.

Their OL was very good! Haven't seen Eiden not get through at least once all season but they kept him in check. And his point about Dawson. He was tough to bring down but the Cats had success slowing him down. Lord was tough to stop, he was a good player and I'm sure they're bummed he transferred out.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 12, 2026 2:06 pmYes, they limited #2 Sobkowicz.
