So now that the IPF appears to be underway, what are we thinking will be the next big facilities improvement project? I guess replacing the east side bleachers would be next according to the old Facilities Plan. I'd also love to see some updates to the Fieldhouse at some point to maybe make it more of an intimate atmosphere with more fans able to sit closer to the court.
You'll continue to slip and fall down the east side stands and you'll like it!
As much of a struggle as it was to get the last 1% of funding for the IPF it might be a while before they try and tackle anything of substance.
Getting the last 1% from the small donors is always going to seem like a struggle. The real questions are when will the big donors be willing to write another check, and if they can find new big donors ready to begin supporting Athletics and future facility improvements. I'll continue to do my part and buy those Powerball tickets whenever the jackpot gets big.
It would be interesting to know how many new big donors (how ever that would be defined) there are every year/project. We've talked on here in the past about how MSU should be working on getting Yellowstone Club types to donate but are they actually doing that and has there been any success? If our recent projects are all funded by mostly the same big donors I would think we won't be able to keep up if/when we move up. These guys have to run out of money eventually.
I too have plans to help out MSU Athletics if I win the big one!
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

It would be nice to get those Yellowstone Club types, and I know they're working on it. It's not going to be easy, as most of them have no ties to the University. But some of them have so much money that it's easy to write a check for a million bucks, so they've gotta keep at it and hope somebody ends up picking up a new favorite team. If they're sports fans, they're probably supporting their alma mater mostly.
As I've mentioned before, the long game will work out, as enrollment has been up and should stay up. The business school used to be a step down from UM, so a lot of the grads going out and making big bucks were gris fans. Eventually that will parlay into more donations, but that takes a lot of time.
I've had lots of conversations with a few of the bigger donors to MSU, and they feel like they get asked constantly. There's definitely some fatigue there, so getting new blood in there is essential.
I just upped my life insurance, so I better stay anonymous on here or one of you is going to off me!

This might be happening already and we just dont know about it. $26mil for the IPF is a ton of money. There is nothing saying that a couple Club members didnt each pitch in a million.

I think having Nick Faldo on board helps. Nick is a big fan and lives in the area and I am sure many Yellowstone Club Members would love golfing with him. Gives him a chance to make his sales pitch. At least I can hope it works that way.

Is Faldo actually donating money, or did he just jump on the MSU bandwagon for a few social media clips and TV appearances? Super cool if he is financially supporting MSU.

No idea but if he is pushing the brand I will take it.

I know Leon has been working diligently on more involvement with the Yellowstone Club. I know they hosted the FB team for a dinner last year and have had members attend games. All it will take is one of their wealthy members to get on board. A few million dollars in not a lot of money to most of their members. Getting Bozeman's Nick Faldo involved is great. He could be huge in getting us donations and also giving some dollars himself. Leon is doing a good job in building these relationships.

He did donate a round of golf for three with him at Black Bull for an auction at one of MSU fundraisers. So at least he is supporting the Cats in some ways. I don’t remember what it went for but one of my buds bought it.

Didn't he say something on ESPN GameDay that he was letting the MSU rodeo team use his land for practice?

He has land near the new Bobcat rodeo practice facility. He was looking forward to riding with them.

Faldo mentioning the Cats in his social media and on TV benefits him and MSU.

I was skeptical at first but it seems like Faldo sincerely likes MSU and the whole scene around Bozeman based on how much he interacts with the locals, etc.
