Re: Indoor facility
So, I don't really know the process this has to go through. Does this mean that a significant portion of money he in place to build this or not. I know this is a request for 1.5 Million for Design and planning and would think that sounds like quite a bit unless there is already a lot of the money for the project in place or at least some whales that have indicated they would support the project.

Only based on observations over the last couple decades, I completely agree. You simply don't go the BOR for a design phase request for $1.5M unless there's a significant amount of money already on the table. I believe that's the primary criteria the BOR would use to approve the design request.cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:26 pmSo, I don't really know the process this has to go through. This all seems like very, very good news.

Re: Indoor facility
Design will probably take 6-12 months I would guess and 1.5-2 years to build soooo roughly 2-3 years before we actually see it completed correct?

What an incredible job Waded & Leon are doing for MSU! We are so lucky to have those two, but we also need to remember Coach Choate's contribution. Without his push and vision, I think we would be 2 years behind where we are today. We are so very fortunate to have such great leadership at Montana's flagship university!

Probably within a year to 15 months from now to the finished product. The construction is no way as complex as the BAC. The site location is going to be a bit bizarre though, not where we thought it would be. They are looking at a proven design that is already in use elsewhere.

I haven’t read the whole thread but somebody answer me this. Why the hell do we need a $1.5 mil price tag for the design and planning? You can’t find a plan from one built somewhere else and just pay that architect/ designer for use of plan?cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:26 pmSo, I don't really know the process this has to go through. Should be similar availability as picking a design for a house. Seems like every new building has a feasibility study and prostitute prices for design. Pick one that already exists. There’s plenty of track/football combos out there. May have to tweak it for snow roofing or some other consideration but $1.5 is bending over and taking it.

I was told MSU has already raised over half of the funds required for the full project.cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:26 pmSo, I don't really know the process this has to go through. It's not going along the west side of Dyche Field?

Re: Indoor facility
I think it is a plan that has been used before, but obviously there will be some tweaks and changes to meet our specific needs. Not sure how much plans for a big facility go for these days, but I don't think architects give them away for free.CascadeCat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 6:01 pmI haven’t read the whole thread but somebody answer me this. Re: Indoor facility
I think it makes more sense to have it closer to the BAC locker room than where originally planned. You would have had to dress-out in the BAC locker room, cross Kagy Blvd and walk across snowy Dyche Field / parking lot to get the IPF at that location.
