In losing one FootballScoop Coordinator of the Year, Vigen is expected to place him with another. Sterbick was chosen by prior winners as the FootballScoop Division II Coordinator of the Year in 2022 for a season that saw the Orediggers lead the nation in scoring (44.6 points per game) and passing efficiency (175.94).
Curious how our offensive scheme changes - I like his experience a lot.

The offense at Tech drastically improved when he was the OC, of course, he also had Quinn McQueary as his QB (I hate you Rob). So that obviously helped.

Had some prolific offenses at Tech and CSOM, but both of those places he had 3-4 year starters at QB that were very, very, good. Seemed like he adapted to what he had offensive wise. Will be interesting to see how it works out. On paper, seems like a really good hire.

I see he changed his title on his twitter page from Head Coach to OC/QB coach. He also started following River Warren, Grant Vigen, Thomas Buchanan, Jordan Reed, and Chance Wilson.

Out of curiosity I watched a few Colorado Mines game highlight videos on YouTube yesterday evening and saw quite a few similarities to what MSU already runs. Lots of pre-snap motion from receivers, shotgun formations pretty much all the time, dual threat QB and plenty of option "hand off or keep" run plays like MSU ran with Tommy. I'm sure the new OC will have his own ideas and concepts but overall there won't be any kind of massive change from what I saw.

I've heard the same
I've also heard Justin Mesa at WR coach (+Special Teams?), but no idea of true or not. Guessing Walsh gets moved from TE to OL
Head Coach since 2023 for Colorado Mines, before that he was OC at Montana Tech and also Mines before being promoted.
So he worked with Stitt?
No, he wasn't there until several years after Stitt left for Missoula.
Okay. Well reading that article from Football Scoop he looks like a really great candidate. It's sure nice to see some positive news for a change!

D2 Rankings of his offense last year (out of 159 teams):

#4 - Yards Per Play (7.25)
#5 - Yards Per Game (483)
#11 - Passing Yards Per Game (280.5)
#4 - Yards Per Rush (5.84)
#15 - Rushing Yards Per Game (202.2)
#12 - Passing Efficiency

His 2023 season (first year as head coach) was historic at Mines and it was a very similar run to MSU's in 2024. They lost in the title game which was their only loss of the season but their offense broke records. 2024 they went 8-3 and missed the playoffs.

Does anybody have any information regarding possible offensive line coach candidates?

Probably our current TE's coach Jordan Walsh who was an All-American OL at Iowa and has coached the position at other stops in his young coaching journey.

This just proves that being one of the top programs attracts the top up and coming coaching candidates. Heck this guy could be the next Kalen Deboer for all we know.

Oh come on. We got like the "retired grandpa who smokes a pack a day and talks about WW2 too much" Bob Cole vs. the "innovative offensive mind who turned Jordan Lynch into a Heisman Finalist at Northern Illinois" Bob Cole.

Sterbick is a great recruiter and awesome fit for this staff.

🤣🤣🤣 Bob Cole was a hell of a character. That’s for sure.

Wonder if Sterbick also brings a WR and/or TE coach with him.

Would Marcus Monaco have the experience/capacity to take on ST Coord and TEs?

Monte eats corn the long way.

Boy I tell you what, I think it says a lot about the state of the Montana State Program that we can brining in a guy like Sterbick, who is the head coach at a solid D2 school in Colorado School of Mines, to be our Offensive Coordinator.

Another school made a legendary D2 coach their head coach!

I wonder if this hire is the starting pistol for some portal additions. They might have wanted to see who a coach proposed to bring with him before they committed to other transfer options.

Far more likely that they’ve given up and aren’t trying anymore. Wake up, sheeple!
