Wow, the last two pages of this thread have been some of the best stuff I've ever read in the off-season on BN. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the mayhem, too funny!

I mean from the drawings and just in general of holding 100 yards of turf with a track around it I knew this building was going to be huge but damn, seeing an aerial view of that outline next to the actual stadium and track... wow. That is going to be massive. What an upgrade for the the football and T&F programs (and other programs that need somewhere to get in out of the cold to train for that matter).
I was thinking about your comment. This IPF building is so huge, its length or width wouldn't even fit inside the frigin football field grounds.

Whenever they make improvements to Kegy Blvd. there should be a pedestrian underpass leading to the grass practice fields of Dyche Field connecting to the rest of campus.

If you look at the proposal from the city about five years ago, the plan was to put one of the tunnels to the left of where your marks are, along where the pre-existng crossroad is now located. Obviously, that could all change since they probably won't be able to this for a few more years.

That puts the size into perspective. Also consider that vertical relief is more distinct than covered area. The building is equivalent to a 7-story (70 feet) building at its peak and about 3-4 stories (35 feet) at its lowest. The press box and sky suites are about 6 stories high at the highest points, but most of it is only about 4 stories. As the area is now, it's pretty impressive looking as you arrive from the east coming down the hill on Kagy Blvd., but I think it'll be substantially more so with the IPF sitting there since it protrudes in that direction. It's probably good that it doesn't protrude to the west because that would probably funnel more wind into the stadium.

This facility is going to be amazing. It will pay huge dividends for both football and track.

Definitely. But really, they serve the same purpose. The on field benefits will be the same.

With that said, this is just another thing that shows just how far ahead MSU is over UM as a whole. MSUs IPF will be one of the nicest in the country at the FCS level. Just another new structure on campus that significantly benefits Student/Athletes.

I agree they serve the same purpose, but only in one area. Having the football team practice indoors is the only way they're serving the same purpose. I don't think the on-field benefits will be the same. MSU's IPF is leaps and bounds nicer than UM's IPB and is going to attract better athletes and therefore create better football teams. The facility is right next door to the football field and the training center at MSU; at UM the IPB is significantly further away. Every recruit that visits both UM and MSU is going notice that fact and it will be pointed out by MSU's coaches. That's an absolutely glaring difference and I think MSU's facility will do a better job of making the on-field product better than UM's bubble.

Yes, will say it again, this will/should be a major plus to the University overall. Very impressive.

Question: what is the Student Symptomatic Testing Center?

During COVID, a trailer was set up outside that side of the stadium for students to get tested.

I like to make fun of um as much as the next guy but their bubble isn't that far from the stadium. Right after you cross the walking bridge it's right to your right. So pretty close. Not as close as us. Now their training center and locker rooms are on the opposite end of the stadium as their bubble, but then so is ours. So ultimately you have to walk outside to get from the locker room to the indoor what have you, for both. The distance is maybe 100 yards shorter at MSU?

I like the idea of the under road passageway but the hotel plans will probably dictate its future.

What I find interesting from the video is it looks like the road is elevated a bit higher than the current road. That might be an error or just looks that way on the video, but if it is elevated, that would also make it easier to not close down Kagy on game days. Just have everyone parking in the Field House lots use the tunnels to the stadium. Doubt that would happen though since kids and adults would find a way to run across the street to save a few seconds.

Not to get in a fight here, but roundabouts are awesome.

I was just kidding, in a roundabout way of course. I have had near side-swipe experiences with confused drivers not familiar with roundabouts leaving their lane early to make an exit. Also, if the roundabout is on a main thoroughfare and the other road you’re on isn’t as busy, you end up waiting longer for a break in traffic to enter due to the constant flow of traffic on that main thoroughfare.
