Coming from a small class C town I think I’d speak for the majority that there’s a lot of pride in hosting the title game. I think very few would be interested in playing a game of that magnitude in a practice facility.

I completely agree with this. I think all football championships should stay at host school locations. My only point of bringing this up was that its been discussed having the title games in Bozeman and Missoula, have each town host all of them when Cat/gris is in the other location.

I agree, but it's getting harder and harder to get enough to work that dont lalso want to watch the game. Large crowds manage to make it to basketball and volleyball arenas for state championships. I imagine they would for football with a week's notice also. Biggest hangup might be motel costs. But Froid to Superior is a long ways.

1.364 Furlongs seems just right to me for an indoor track.
But how many furlongs per fortnight?
Actually 1.4913 furlongs but who's counting.

When the gris are in town we will need to tell them that they can still run a 400 meter race, they don't need to stop at 300 meters.

And the end-zones on a practice field are usable. Bubble people are weird.

It should also allow for the amplification / simulation of loud crowd noise in preparation of opponents who play in domes, hopefully to mitigate false starts.
Snell graduated. We should be ok on false starts now.
Yeah but we still have Connor Moore. Love the guy, but let's just say his blocking isn't the reason I learned his name so quick.

Connor Moore is a stud and will be an all-american candidate this year. We are lucky to have him.

Personally I hate playing football indoors, and the IPF is simply not designed for playing competitive games. Bad weather is part of the game. Let the kids play outside on their own fields just like they do all year!
I agree with you in general and I prefer outdoor…just old fashioned I guess. There are “special circumstances” that might warrant an indoor game such as the year the State C game was played in the field house. My memory has faded but as I recall temps that week were predicted to be nearing minus 20….too dangerous for spectators, non participants on the sideline, etc in those conditions.

Imagine showing recruits the IAC as well as our game day atmosphere and our campus. We are in a prime position to recruit even more talent.

I know there will always be needs for MSU Athletics. But, MSU is an East Side Grandstand away from checking off the biggest needs for the football program. I mean, that is assuming they get taller goal posts.

When was the State C title played in the fieldhouse? Had to of been eons ago. I was a freshman on the sideline when Scobey played at Terry for the 1996 title and it was around -25 at kickoff. I don't recall much complaining from the fans since we won, but I believe the concession stands set records for coffee and hot chocolate sales.

1973 Bozeman Rosary hosted Culbertson. Not sure of temperature but also recall a major snow storm and they had the option in Bozeman to be indoors. Played in MSU field house on dirt floor. I didn’t attend the game but believe they had one goal post at one end. BR won 18-0 so not really needed.

you must never have been to a game in Livingston or the old cinder field in Belgrade.

I remember the dirt floor but I didn’t remember the one end goal post. Newspaper said it was first time FB game had been played indoors in Montana but that stands to reason. And you are right on the snow…because I remember the snow for the days preceding the game and the subzero temps but some brain fold is recalling the actual game day temp was better than predicted.

Hardy folks if they stood outside! Many Class C fields I have been at in bad weather most folks are in parked cars around the field watching through windshields…Ha! Played in games like that (but not 20 below) the horns would be blaring if something good happen.

And in my old age, even though I prefer outdoor FB, if a game was going to be 20 below and I had a nice indoor facility located nearby that could accommodate a game…well I am moving inside! Getting to be a wussy in my twilight years.

I played in that 20 below game. Unfortunately I wasn’t on the winning team. It really didn’t seem that cold. Might have to due to the fact that I never got out of the game. Lots of fans complained about it.
