Re: Any Portal News Yet
I have a portal question. So players have a timeline they can enter the portal, however, is there any type of deadline for them to be picked up in the portal? Understanding they have to be enrolled and attending class during the spring semester to play spring ball.

No timeline to my understanding. They can just stay in paid school here, probably use are facilities, and wait for an offer to transfer during the summer.. Hope I’m wrong on that…Run-the-ball wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:31 pmI have a portal question. Players in the portal can sign with a new team at any time. At this point, I'm guessing most players who sign will spend the Spring semester at their current school and then transfer for Fall.Run-the-ball wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:31 pmI have a portal question. The current school doesn’t have to maintain a players athletic scholarship once a player enters the portal.catzz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:46 pmNo timeline to my understanding. Players are now responsible for covering their own tuition, offseason training, nutrition, and other expenses if they are not enrolled for the spring semester. They then face the uncertainty of securing enrollment at their new destination in the summer. This creates significant pressure, especially if they don't have a clear plan in place before entering the transfer portal.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:52 pmThe current school doesn’t have to maintain a players athletic scholarship once a player enters the portal.catzz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:46 pmNo timeline to my understanding. Seems risky. Hope they are all aware of those details before they make that jump. The Butcher wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:25 amPlayers are now responsible for covering their own tuition, offseason training, nutrition, and other expenses if they are not enrolled for the spring semester. Re: Any Portal News Yet
Was MSU even recruiting him? He's not a receiving threat like Snell and Rohan

No, not that I know of, at least this time. He was recruited out of high school. I certainly didn't expect him to come here, but a few people were hoping he would.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:22 pmWas MSU even recruiting him? He's not a receiving threat like Snell and Rohan

Re: Any Portal News Yet
But it’s just hilarious that Iowa, which as of late has had great difficulty scoring enough points, would pick up a quarterback they beat and who only got a field goal against them! They are usually very good defensively, and it’s a great fit for Gronowski, being from Illinois. If he recovers well from his surgery he’s got a good chance of making some noise there.
I'm just happy Gronowski won't be in Bozeman next September 6 after playing 8 seasons in Brookings.
