Bobcat Defense

Post by Robcat » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:16 pm

Listened to the Big Human on Wednesdays coaches show. He had Beau Clark with him and believe me the defense is fired up. Beau called a team meeting on Monday and gave everyone a pep talk, lets not look back on last Saturday. Lets work hard this week in practicce for this Saturdays game at hand. I was convinced. Kramer also said eveyone is ranting and raving about Easterns D being so tough and he counters that with no way there D is as good as the Cats. He was very, very, very adament-no if ands or buts. If the D shows up, the O line gives Lulay some time in the pocket, it will be a fun game. Beau Clark said this team does not want to share in the title, its all or nothing. I want and prefer all. Go Cats

I have known Beau Clark for almost 8 years. He is a man of few words. Means what he says, and is an all out great person. Pretty darn good football player.
(trying not gush over a hometown boy)

I don't know about that. I have a pretty good feeling about this game. After just listening to the Coaches Show, I'm much more confident about us getting the W. Of course Kramer is always positive and optimistic but seemed even more so this time. You can sense that everyone will be extremely pumped and ready to fight to the death for 60 minutes. There will be absolutely no intensity lacking in this game. I think we'll be coming after Meyer hard & fast early on... :o

What I hope!

Post by neverplayed » Thu Nov 11, 2004 6:37 pm

I hope Bobcats can win against Eastern Washington, solely because then it will be so much sweeter for the Grizzlies to dump the Bobcats the following week.

This game between Eastern & MSU is Eastern's Playoff Game - and seeing eastern lose will make me very happy.

Since EWU's third loss, every game has been a playoff game. This simply is one more.

If we get by Eastern, I'll be VERY optimistic about beating UM.

Good God man, would you pick a team and stick with it. You're starting to make me seasick with all this jumping on and off of bandwagons.

So this must be that "flip flopping" I've heard so much about!

Talked to one of the coaches last night, he said Saturday's game might be the biggest home game post-1984. He might be right, probably the biggest game in general post-1984 in my opinion was the cat-griz game a couple years ago in missoula, turned the cats into a respected team not to mention ending the streak.

It is a HUGE game. With all the hype surrounding Eastern this year, and with our capability, I have a feeling this will be one hell of a clash. After the Sac. meltdown, this team has something to prove to everyone and I really think they'll get it done. Less that 24 hours to go!!! :D

Wasn't there something here about paying your way to all of the remaining Cat games after you added your good luck presence to the NAU thrashing. After seeing what happened last week when we failed to get you to Sac, I am thinking we need a last minute emergency BobcatNation collection to get you here. How much is a last minute flight from Vegas to Bozeman anyway....

Just for grins, I checked on flights. $900 would be the cost. If it brought the desired outcome we all want, $900 would be worth every stinking penny to each of us diehards. It sure would be great to see the game and especially if we n.a.u.'d them.

I will however be in missoula so we can hope for an A$$ kicking there.

I would really like to see the CATS hang a whooooping on EWU just in case there was some stupid scenario that would put a tiebreaker into play with the griz.

This will probably be one of the best games in I-AA this year. Both teams are evenly matched and both know that it's win or stay home for the playoffs. Although Eastern has won in Bozo, they typically don't play well in Bozo. The Cat D has something to prove to EWU this week. The O Line will have their hands full - here's to the Cat receivers playing their best game of the year.

Over here, complacency is running rampant regarding the um-sac game...sac always finds a way to give this game away, and I have no doubt they will figure out a new and even more exciting way to crash and burn at denny field - hope I'm wrong.

Adding to the above...........

Remember the conversation early in the season about why the Cats were playing so soft at the corner (i.e., playing soft zone)? Well, whoever was moaning about that type of defense should now be able to understand why the Cats played that way. The 3 times the corner on Kimball played man resulted in 3 BIG play TD's by Kimball. The Cats made him look like Randy Moss. The corners just aren't ready to shut down a big time receiver mano-a-mano yet.

Corey Austin was that corner that got burned 3 times. I was wondering why they didnt take him out and move Force to corner, just like they were doing the past few weeks, seemed to be working fine. It was obvious even in the stands that when Austin moved to a press that they would audible to a fade (you could see the reciever shift his feet before the play, a big tip off that he will be running a fade). Not sure who is at fault there, Austin, the DBs coach, or the D-coordinator.

We should all take note that we are playing with two frosh at the corners, two frosh who werent expected to play a lot, much less start every game. We have to expect some growing pains.

Saying that, I noticed who coaches the DBs - Berryhill. This is the same guy who coached our WRs last season, and they didnt show me much then. Is it a coinicidence that the DBs arent showing us much this year either? Someone told me Saturday that we dont have one single CB with an INT this season???? You'd think with some good coaching, even freshmen would show steady improvement over the course of a season.
