Class Act...
Obzervations from an EWU fan; After the first time in Bozeman I know it won't be the last. A simply marvelous place/town/school/stadium/crowd/scenery/places to eat/things to do and people in general. Oh yeah, great Football game. After the game was well over my wife and I were walking back to our car when a strapping young man, decked out in MSU gear, came jogging over. Just as I was pulling out my crucifix he asked if we were EWU fans. He simply said congratulations to us/the school and EWU. I won't go into the detail of the many compliments he handed to us but as I slid that cross back into my pocket I was wishing my daughter was there to met this stranger who went out of his way to say these kind things. I can't remember his name but he had played for MSU and was the player(WR) who hurt his shoulder in the EWU game last year. I may not remember his name but I will never forget this young man's face....a Class Act indeed.

Obzerver,
That would have been Scott Turnquist then. He is a great example of a Bobcat and I am glad he was the one you met. Although many other of our players the last decade also are a class act and would have done the same thing. To me, Scotty epitomizes Bobcat football. He may not have been the biggest or fastest kid, but he always played with great heart and gave it everything he had on the field. And he has always seemed like a great person off the field in many ways. I have met his parents and it is obvious why he has turned out to be the way he is.
Good luck to EWU in the playoffs. I do hope you do well. Meyers and Kimble are great players no doubt. Our kids gave everything they had yesterday-just did not have an answer for those two. I wouldn't trade travis Lulay for anyone, but Eric Meyers is close (I am sure you wouldn't trade him either!). And Kimble is special.

Obzerver, I think all of us on this board appreciate your very kind words and the class you demonstrate. Bozeman is the greatest place in the world in my mind, I love to hear that other people are equally enamored when they have the privelege of visiting. I have always been impressed by Scott Turnquist on and off the field, and stories like this continue to prove what a great young man he is. I couldn't manage to get two words out of my mouth after the game, because I was so bummed out - I know Scotty is just as huge of a Bobcat as I am, so it is pretty impressive what he did. I hope sometime in the future, we can all remember this and do the same (not that I ever hope to lose like that again!).
As I was driving back to Missoula this evening, I was replaying the game in my mind, and all I could think was that regardless of the outcome, this was undoubtedly one of the best college football games I have ever witnessed. Two champions who would not give up - reminded me of Rocky vs. Apollo, where each fighter kept throwing his best punch and then the other would match it. Wow...

I agree,I was hoping for a better outcome for the Cat's, but it was a great game to watch. What a shootout between Lulay and Meyers, the 2 best QB's in the Big Sky! I talked to a EWU fan at half time, a nice guy, he said Lulay is killing us. I said would you trade QB's? He said yes, but not the O line. However I could not pry Kimball from him. The two best teams had a shootout at Bobcat Stadium, unfortunately we lost. Can Ochs keep up with Lulay this weekend?

Don't worry about Bronco, he's just upset someone from another team loved our city/stadium/fans. Nice to see fans coming in that don't have blinders on. I just love all the Griz fans that say our stadium sucks. Its one of the best in 1-AA overall and how many more schools can say they have a better setting with the beautiful school/surroundings. I talked to some EWU athletic/supporters and they just love our box/press box level and said its the best in the conference hands down. And yet, we're not even done with the stadium plans yet.bronco wrote:"I got two words for you;

Looks like you have three words.

It's been good chatting with you, Obzerver. Congrats on a hard earned championship for the Eagles. We hope the Cats will help you get an undisputed Big Sky championship. If you guys let us win a volleyball championship, we'll win you one in football -- deal?
I'm pleased you had a good time, even though we would have prefered you not have quite such a good time.

Can't wait to meet some of you guys next year in Cheney, where the stadium renovations are still underway. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised with the progress at Woodward. The new press box/donor suites are top notch, and the extra seating, etc. are starting to come together nicely. The whole thing should be complete in a couple of years, and, although capacity will only be about 12,000, I think it will be one of the nicer stadiums in the Big Sky. Small, but very good atmosphere!
With both Lulay, Meyer, and Kimble all back next year, no doubt it will be another epic battle!!!
