Trick Plays

I really don't think we'll see the Cats try a lot of trick plays other than a reverse or maybe a pass out of punt formation. Kramer isn't much for razzle dazzle. Two years ago the only friz score came as a result of a reverse, and they ran on 4th down out of punt formation deep in their own territory, so I assume the Cats will be ready for anything!

The thing that impresses me most with the friz is the fact that their trick plays are called fairly often and are routinely successful. It says a lot about the mental focus of the opposing team.

They still have trouble executing the shovel pass though! LOL

My favorite trick play of all time was J. Adams over the middle for 50 or so and the win in missoula. Oh, my bad. Not a trick. A treat!!

Ya, you're right the last three shovels only picked up a little over 40 yards total, I know you expect more from the Griz than that, I do too.
Well sure, that makes the griz about 3-for-30 this year. Hmmm, a 0.10 success rate - that will be about the same as the griz success against the Bobcats over the next decade.

Yeah the Shovel Pass was scrapped for 3 or 4 weeks. I think the last few times might not have been an actual drawn up shovel pass but just Ochs flipping the ball to an open reciever

Hmm... another mention of "the streak"... I like how griz fans always pull out "the streak".

Show of hands:

Does anyone think that "the streak" will have anything to do with the outcome of this Saturday's game?

Or, like me, does anyone think that the more they mention "the streak", the more it illustrates that those days are long over, replaced by the bittersweet cocktail of reality and nostalgia.

GavinDonos: (Nice to see you back) At least the Griz can still get into the playoffs. 12 years now that's a streak I like to talk about. Griz always seem to have that one wraped up long before cat time. ? cats going to the playoff this year?

Never mistake activity for accomplishment.

By any measure, making the I-AA playoffs 12 years in a row is impressive and so is consecutive Big Sky championships, co-, or otherwise. Not even Georgia Southern or Eastern Kentucky did that.

It's also impressive that just about any jo-blo off the street can come in as HC and continue to put up 8-10 wins every season.

How many of you griz fans feel that your program has actualy been getting consistently better over the course of the last three to four years?

How many of you griz fans feel that your team will be better next year than it was this year?

Have a nice day on Saturday, might be your last chance for awhile.

I think the Griz will be better next year. Our defense is so young it is ridiculous, we will have Lex and Waller as a 1-2 running combo and Talmage and Bagley at Wideout. It is hard to improve on winning the national title like we did in '01 so of course there is going to be a little bit of drop off. Do you think the Cats have improved the last couple of years, hmmm lets see no playoffs this year, not much of an upward movement.

The cats have come along ways from the 0-11 season, but have they improved at all this year over the last 2?

With No running game and a patheticly dwindleing defense doesn't promote much hope for next year does it?
We'll beat you this year, then clobber you next year. I think your going to be not so pleastantly surprised by our team next year. 1 more year for our young skill players (who are now starting to kick some a**) and it could be an awesome year for us. National Championship aspirations definately next year.

anaconda,

There is obviously still a lot of BAD STUFF in the water in smelterville if you truly believe this griz team has a shot at the NC this season. Your offense is slightly better than average but your D doesn't have a prayer against the top teams in 1AA.

There is no way you could score enough points to beat ANY of the current teams ahead of you in the polls, or have you forgotten what Sam Houston State did to you? If so, just watch what Lulay & Co. do this Saturday for a refresher course...

I am not saying i think the griz will even make it past the second round I was just trying to say it is whole lot better to know the Griz will be one of the final sixteen and that their season will not be over after Saturday.

I think anaconda is talking about the BSC title. There's no amount of heavy metals in the water to make anyone dilusional enough to think the Griz have a shot at the NC.
