While Hatler was a very important recruit in the Durhams recruiting of Montana, but it was not Hatler! The player I am talking about was also the very first Montana basketball player ever to be awarded the title of Montana Mr. Basketball by the Billings Round Table and Gazatte.

I can't remember the kid's name, but is the one who came in about the same time as Leachman, but ended transferring to Biola in California?

Both players ended up transfering out. The Montana Kid to Eastern Montana (Now MSU-B)

That Kral Ferch. The Montana kid never played with Ferchs but lived just down the road from them!
The Minnisota Fella did play with Kral but not Shan

The Minnesota guy I was thinking of was Tryg Johnson-but I don't think he transferred out.

Not Tryg, he was a guard recruited the year after Tryg was.

Oh-the MT kid was Chris Hereford. I played against him when he was a Gardner, I was senior and he was a sophomore...he was better than me
