SMU Message Board

Doesn't look like we strike a lot of fear in their fans.

This is nice game to get on our home schedule, but dang it-it looks like work related committments will keep me from attending.

With Beye out, and Dissly hurting, along with Friday night's debacle at WAZZU makes me wonder if this season is already in the ditch.

How long will Towsley go before his back just won't let him? I don't see too many guys come back from back injuries.

Bobcats completely blew this game...somebody had better step up and make a couple free throws in the last minute or this will be a looong season. Absolutely terrible. Hell of a game in the second half for Brown though.

What happened? Did we have the game towards the end, but didn't finish it off? I didn't get to listen to the game so just wanted to know what happened.

MSU had a 5-6 point lead going into the last minute. I believe they went 3-10 on FT's in the final minute and SMU scored 5 unanswered in the last 15 seconds to tie it (a 3, then two terrible FT misses by Moss, then easy lay-up on blown defense by MSU), then killed us in OT. MSU did come back from 15 down early in the second half to take the lead, but it sucks to give away the game like that.

SMU game recap

We missed 8-12 free throws down the stretch. We had a 5 point lead with 23 seconds left and still lost! Most Jr. High girls basketball players shoot better freethrows than that!

I'm glad I didn't get to see it.

I have never understood how an entire team can struggle so much with free throws, and especially a guard oriented team like ours always are. That is something you should be practicing all year long and is one thing that will cost you more close losses than anything else. MSU01 you are correct, this is going to be a very long season if we don't improve the basics like free throw shooting and closing out games you shouldn't lose.

My sentiments exactly WYCAT! :x

MSU scores 61 points in a game that goes into overtime? What the hell? I thought this team was supposed to be more explosive, more up and down, more athletic, more fun to watch.....I know its only game 2, but same old same old so far. I'd wager that any average team in the Big Sky would be posting a 2-0 record so far this season.

Prove me wrong Mick and crew, please, I am begging you?!!?!?!?!?

Is anyone else as thrilled with the all monday night basketball schedule for both teams this season. I'm generally not able to go to games on monday night and have not seen the men or women play, even though I have season tickets. If they schedule so many games on Mondays next season, I won't buy season tickets.

I am sure you are not alone on this based on the attendance last night - around 2,700 I think. With an opponent like SMU that isn't very good. That and if we continue to lose often our attendance for the season may be really bad.

I was at the game and felt that the team is very slight. The skinniest little guys on a college team I have ever seen. I thought Marvin Moss would be more physical but now that I have seen him, he doesn't strike fear into anyone at the strong forward IMO. He won't take the ball strong to the hoop. He makes a couple of steps toward the basket, fades and tries to pass to someone else. Dissly did jam the ball on a breakaway over a defender, but most of the time the fast break was started but never finished because they had no rythm going with their footwork and tripped over their own feet! Moss had a breakaway and fumbled his way to the basket and blew a dunk!
