MSU football: Bobcats land Billings receiver
By Chronicle Staff
The Montana State football team picked up another oral commitment Wednesday from Derek Green, a wide receiver from Billings Senior High School.
Green, who is 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, earned first-team all-state honors after catching 61 passes for 909 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"They've been recruiting me since early in the season, I've always liked Montana State and Bozeman's close to where I live," Green said Wednesday night. "When went on my trip this last weekend I had a lot of fun and I liked the coaching staff."
Green, who says he'll decide whether to become a teacher or marketer, also was well aware of MSU's offensive style.
"I do know that they pass a lot," he said. "So that's a perfect offense for my position. They've got good quqteterbacks, so it looks good to me."
Green committed Wednesday and is receiving a full-ride scholarship. He also said he considered other schools in Montana.
Players can commit any time but can't sign binding letters of intent until February. Under NCAA rules, coaches can't comment on recruits until they've signed.

I thought he was a good Wideout. Didn't get to play much as a Junior since he was behind a bunch of Seniors. Good Speed for Montana highschool. I think WY and CSU also took a look. You won't be seeing him next year can I say Redshirt.
Never mistake activity for accomplishment.

Talk to some Griz, and they will say he learned valuable playing time seeing formations and speed of the game, etc. Ask me and I agree with you catatac. Wasted year for Bagley. He was a non factor in anything this year. Maybe he did learn a lot, but I doubt it wasnt anything he couldnt have learned wearing a redshirt.catatac wrote:Yes - this is net meant as a slam but I hope we don't make the same mistake with him as UM made with Bagley? Burned his redshirt for what? 3 catches this year or something?
Maybe that was part of his deal with Hauck. "I wont redshirt you, come play for me." Not that I fault Hauck for agreeing to that if that truely is what brought Bagley to Missoula.
