...check out who the athletic director was at the time...and take a look at the entire program...compare our contributions from the state to the rest of the state (Board of Regents approved) and then I'll come back. Look at what our percentage of the state's funding is this year and then you'd be hard pressed to place blame on our coaches. Kind of like what Sweeney used to have to do. Make the best out of what you have. But with as many of us retiring and coming back, perhaps we'll slowly but surely start to put the clerks the other end of the state produces to work doing something other than brag about their high school size stadium...and how loud and obnoxious they are...as several of my friends pointed out, their stadium capacity is an expansion in the big conferences. Anyway, success on the field (or the lack thereof) was and is directly attributable to the state being able to skim and redirect to a school with much larger problems than how their football team performed. We were forced to find alternative sources of revenue, and as a result we're much better off for the long term. It was a bad time to a certain extent, but...that was then. This is now. Play the next play. (But don't screw up again or beat yourself up or your ass will be on the bench).

...get your checkbook out and send at least a fifty to the booster club...don't let the foundation get their hands on it or the kids will never see it! And work with the kids that realize our activity fees are some of the lowest in the U.S. and then pound our Board of Regents continually to let let them know what a sorry job they do.

The "golden years?" Golden as in urine, because MSU pissed away those years coming off a national championship.

:-& I suddenly feel sick after seeing this topic.

Me too, I vote to table this topic :) The future is now for this program. It is building and building right now. Even the 'Griz' fans can see that

We can do nothing about the past, but we all can do something about the current/future of this program.

Here's are examples of things that make me ill. And I don't need to go back to Earle, or Dave or even Cliff.
Just two years ago we have the new stadium, support is going in the right direction, there's Ryno and Jon Taylor and Kane and Adam and Central Washington, a program with a $1.98 budget willing to come to Bozeman to collect the big $10,000 payday we offer, comes in and kicks our butts on homecoming day!
Or how about last year! We control our own destiny. Eastern and the griz loom large...we need to find ways to win, so in the meantime we go to
Sacramento and get humiliated by a team that supposedly doesn't belong on the same field with us.
Next year the griz will be back and they will be good, as will Eastern, as will PSU and likely NAU. This team has got to grow or it's 6-5 forever.
I could go on, BUT IT'S THE HOLIDAYS so SHUT UP!!
Happy Holidays, everyone. Or as they say in the Red States, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! go ahead and delete this now.....

Again I will spell out the fact regarding Hysell and Kramer.

After their first ive years Hysell had a better record!!

Hysell did not have the luxury of the current facilities to help with recruiting!!

The conference schedule was much more difficult!!
(No team won the conference with 5-2 records!! 6 -1 was the poorest record of the conference champoins during Hysell's first 5 years!!)

Don't blame the 0-11 record on Hysell, that was Kramer's beauty all the way. Him trying to be the OC, Azimi his star QB, a majority of those players on that team went the next few years and did just fine!!

Agreed Hysell didn't have the PR Kramer has, but don't knock his coaching relatiave to Kramers!! The facts prove out!! And plus you can believe a word Hysell says, can't say the same about Kramer!! Biggest B*** Sh***** I have ever met!!

Or maybe the kid played for Hysell but couldnt for Kramer?

I have no clue as to why anyone is debating the difference between Hysell and Kramer. This is a foolish arguement that no one will win. My comparison is that even with the .500 record the last 3 years in Bozeman under Kramer, at least we see a future, we see the program gaining momentum.

It is bad to compare the two and I like them both equally although for various different reason, but this one thing (a comparison) keeps popping into my head.

Kramer has had three teams (2002-04) good enough to beat UM and did it twice. Hysell had two (1997-98) good enough to beat UM, but lost both. But as mentioned above, this topic goes no where. It's kind of like Bush-bashing (wink-wink), very counter-productive.

I am a big heysel fan and that 1998 team was fun to watch but how many Big Sky Conference titles has he won compaired to kramer. Heysel has had the opportunity to nab 2 and couldnt... kramer is 2 out of 3
