Recruiting Visits
Anyone know who was in town last weekend, and who is here this weekend?
It looked like that Rank kid from Vancoover is coming this weekend, and I've heard posibilities of a transfer receiver from K-State.

Ditto on the K-State receiver. I understand he may be a 'player' in that he had some stars by his name coming out of high school on one of those recruit services. Ah, but one never knows. He's tall and majoring in engineering. I always make fun of engineers (and lawyers), but I never seem to mind when a player is taking those courses.

This is the second time the Rank kid's name has surfaced today on separate threads. My how I would like for Kramer to land the next Ryan Johnson so we could quit worrying about the running game for about 4 years. I know it is way early but his stats and size say a lot to me. Go get him Kramer. It could be a perfect year with Domenick a senior and only Groves standing in the way from starting. My parents live less than 10 minutes from Evergreen highschool in Vancouver - too bad I am not going there for the holidays. I could stop in and do my part to sway his opinion. Of course I would probably be violating about 20 NCAA laws and would ruin the whole thing.
Better leave this one to the Coaches.

Rank put up some sweet numbers down in Vancouver, WA. As of today (at least on the recruiting sites), he only has offers from MSU and Portland State. He's visiting Bozeman this weekend. I think he heads to Missoula on 1/7/05.WYCAT wrote:This is the second time the Rank kid's name has surfaced today on separate threads. Rank would be a helluva pick up. Only PSU, MSU and UM are looking at him?

Rank, a 6-foot-2, 204-pound senior who has scholarship offers from Montana State and Portland State, wrapped up it for the Plainsmen with his third touchdown of the game, an 18-yard run with 4:27 to go, to put them ahead 28-14. Rank had seven carries for 50 yards in the 92-yard, nine-play march.
Rank rushed 28 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 2,013 yards and 33 TDs this season.

WBTFG said: This kid could be a superstar at the I-AA level.
Therein lies the problem. He could be that at the I-A level. 6-2, 204 and you know he'll add 15-20 to that. Then again, he could be running behind the best line in that area. Christimas is coming soon, so who knows what the Bobcats will find under their tree?

I posted this earlier today in another thread but this is the lastest on who is looking at him Rank.
Rank smelling sweet after title win
Date: Dec 17, 2004
211 yards and three touchdowns later, Taylor Rank had made his point. Earlier in the year, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound running back from Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen was asked which side of the ball he felt he could make a bigger impact knows. If Washington prep football fans didn't know before the class 4A championship game, they do now.
"I think as a running back I have more of an impact on the game," Rank told Scout.com back in the spring. "I like having the ball in my hands." Well, he got it 28 times against Skyline as the Plainsmen held off the Spartans 28-14 to win the title. It was redemption for Evergreen, who was one game away last year from making it to the championship game.
"That was our plan all year to win the state title," Rank said. "It was hard, we were all exhausted. Everybody on our team was."
Now that his senior season was finished in style, it's time for Rank to hit the recruiting circuit. He has three visits planned - Montana State (12/17), Montana (1/14) and a new player - South Carolina (1/21). Montana State and Portland State are the two schools to have offered Rank a scholarship.
So why the Gamecocks? "Steve Spurrier is a real attractive coach at a school like that," said Rank. "He coached my father when my Dad played at Georgia Tech."
Washington had offered Rank before former head coach Keith Gilbertson stepped down. Now Rank's situation with the Huskies is up in the air. "I'm hoping I get a chance to do that pretty soon," Rank said when asked if he had been in touch with new UW head coach Tyrone Willingham.
And anybody that saw the championship game, it will come as no surprise that all the schools are recruiting Taylor as a tailback. "I think I'll get a better idea after I visited them all," he said when asked to pick a favorite. He also added that geography will not play a factor in his decision.

M-Cat: I'm just assuming he wasn't in Bozeman today because no one has verified that he was yet. Did not mean to mislead anyone and am probably be overly pessimistic. I just figure he hasn't since in your post it states that UW may be interested and he wants them to be. It also makes a big deal about what a huge game he had in the title tilt and how that must've wowwed 'em. Just my interpretation.
So is he in Bozeman?

He may have an interest in the UW, but UW (with the Willingham hire) has just garnered the interest of 4 star RB JR Hasty out of Bellevue (son of former NFL star James Hasty) as well as Jonathan Stewart, a running back out of Olympia who is ranked as a 5 star recruit and one of the best in the nation. Additionally, UW also has Louis Rankin, Kenny James, Shelton Sampson and Johnny Kirton. Rank wouldn't be playing anytime soon as all of these guys will be back for at least 2 more years. If the UW gets Stewart or Hasty, Rank won't have a chance.iaafan wrote:M-Cat: I'm just assuming he wasn't in Bozeman today because no one has verified that he was yet. I really think one of the things MSU can sell Rank above UM, UW, and South Carolina is the opportunity to play right away and for a long time. If the kid wants to play a lot and get a chance at a good education we can compete with anyone. If he dreams of playing in the P-10 then he will probably end up somewhere else. I would think with the years of eligibility Lex has remaining a running back would have to think twice about going to UM right now not to mention the fog/smog.

OK This will be a little sketchy, but interesting I believe. I have to be a little selective for obviuos reasons, but it does shed a little light on this topic. I just got a email this afternoon from a friend talking about this board.
Not to pat myself on the back, but it does confirm that Rank is most likely coming to Bozeman this week-endYou're all over that football recruiting thing, holy crap. You must have
Kramer's cell phone tapped..........
..............someone was reciting some football recruiting stuff from
BobcatNation.com this morning posted by MissoulaCat, which I believe is
you, and had almost exactly the stuff that Kramer had just gotten done
telling me (Taylor Rank, Hammond Thomas, etc.). That was pretty
impressive.
