UH Transfer(s)

Post by SonomaCat » Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:56 pm

Thanks go out to the mystery emailer who forwarded this link to me:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/artic ... sp06p.html

The email suggested that both brothers are coming, but the article itself only notes that the younger brother was dismissed from the team.

Had confirmation a couple weeks ago that the younger Bass was no longer a part of the UH team, but good to see something solid about the older guy. Still not sure about the idea of bringing a kid in for only one year, but it would definately be nice to have a bit more depth at the RB position at the very least.

If he is transferring from Hawaii because he wants more playing time, why would he come to MSU where in the best case scenario he shares time with Domineck next year. It would be very hard for me to believe that Kramer is promising anything more than an oppportunity to compete for the starting job so I am wondering how Kramer is pitching this to him. Don't get me wrong, I think he would be a good addition to the team for depth but the basis for his transfer leaves me wondering why he'd come to MSU as opposed to somewhere else where he'd be assured of starting next year.

Also, I'm not sure if Ray Bass sounds like the type of player we'd like on the team. He left the team to transfer last year but rejoined the team again. This year he basically got kicked off because of missing team meetings.

Gordo: If Kramer (not the one on Seinfeld) is reading then he's seeing you as his Newman. "Newwwman." Careful, you might be spoiling his big scheme.

If a prospective RB transfer is reading this... there is a strong possibility for alot of playing time. Our #1 tailback from last year has asthma and gets winded when he runs for too many 50+ yard touchdowns (which are never called back by holding penalties). BTW, our quarterback doesn't pass much and likes to hand it off every down and its usually warm and mild in December in Bozeman, very similar to Hawaii or Southern California. Come and join the fun! :D

I don’t question the 1-year of eligibility thing at all. We absolutely need a kick-ass running game, in-place NEXT SEASON. While it’s cool to watch Lulay throw for 500+ yards, it’s not exactly a good sign of your offense as a whole. It’s called bing 1-dimentional. Is this our guy? Who knows. What I do know is that he’s started for 1A Hawaii for 3 years. I’m very excited to see what he can do on the field. We need a Ryan Johnson or Yo Humphrey, or Lex Hilliard type quality back on this team. Nobody on our roster has shown that capability to me yet. With Lulay and his brains, his grasp of the game, his uncanny scrambling abilility as well as his recently proven aerial assault, the returning starting receivers and Roosevelt, plus other potential star receivers, and our returning 0-Line… if we find a kick-ass running back and throw him in that mix…. I hesitate to use the word but “Unstoppable” comes to mind.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!

I learned that Mike Bass is definitely transferring from Hawaii to a I-AA school and Montana State is the most interested.

(I know that's not really "new" news, but it's now official that he's transferring)

I heard that according to Ray Bass, Mike is going to MSU while Ray is not sure yet what he's going to do.
