Where are all of you expert coaches today, after the big Cat road win? no tips for Mick?

I am sure there are some tips, but it was a great win to get. Some of the "experts" as you say are probably waiting to see what happens for the rest of the season as we all are.

I know there is a big rift between those that are for Mick staying and those that want a change, but in the end we are all Bobcat fans who like to see our team win right?

So go Cats, and we will discuss the coaching situation at the end of the season.

I was perfectly happy basking in the glow of my favorite college basketball team's generally difficult road BSC win, and then somebody has to start talking Cat on Cat (kind of, more "friend of coach" on Cat) smack.

While I'm very happy with the win, let's also remember that Weber is right now ranked 297 in the country in the Sagarins, which means they are about the 30th worst team in the country. It's really sad how weak the entire conference is this season. Hopefully the Cats can take advantage of that weakness and pull together a good conference record and build from there for the future when the conference will (hopefully) once again become at least competitive. I am dreading what I expect to be a 16th seed for the BSC champ in the big dance this year.

But, if the Cats are that 16th seed, it's all good... until they lose out in the Final Four....

It ain't March yet...we always do well in January. If this year is different I'll be the first to admit that Mick has turned things around.

Don't get too excited just yet loyal. Yes it was a big win but we have 15 conference games to go. We made a lot of 3's last night and especially a few key ones down the stretch that kept Weber from coming back. As BAC said, it ain't like we beat Oklahoma State either. Weber is having an especially bad season by their standards. Good win that we should all enjoy but don't expect us to turn our opinions on one win.

Just because some people want Mick to go doesn't mean they want the Cats to lose. I have nothing against Mick, but the man has had PLENTY of time to turn the Cat Bball into a tradition, and he never achieved that. Excitement for BBall COULD be as big as the excitement that has been generated for the football program the last few years, but I think basketball is sliding, not climbing. Lord knows I like Mick, but I'm one of the guys that thinks it is time for a change.

PS Go Cats! Win conference, we have a shot if we stay healthy and keep up the hot shooting.

First off, congrats to all the players (and Mick) on a great road sweep to start off the Big Sky conference season. I have no doubt that the players have worked extremely hard, and they deserve these wins. I hope they can see from these games how playing as a team and working together is so much more effective than playing NBA-style ball, and can keep it up through the duration of the season. Enjoy the trip back home, guys - you all deserve it!

That said, nothing short of making it to the Sweet 16 this year will change my feelings on Mick. These were 2 big wins, but they happened against crappy teams that are also an embarrassment to the Big Sky. Mick's teams also have a sordid history of starting off the first half of Big Sky play really hot, then fading in the latter half of the season as teams get another shot at us. Not saying that will happen to this team, but I also have learned the hard way not to get my hopes up too much. What I would love to see would be for this team to win the Big Sky and for Mick to get a chance again in the NCAA tourney, and then gracefully step down at the end of the season. Mick has given his all for MSU, and he deserves to go out on top.

Whatever we do, beat those friggin' hippies in Missoula next Saturday! GO CATS!

GO CATS GO!!!

You probably need to include the '01/'02 regular season championship and NIT victory team in Durham's accomplishments. Two regular season titles and one conference tournament title in 15 years aren't great percentages though, of course.

Do you know how many Big Sky Championship Mike Montgomery won while he was at Montana...... zip, nada, Zero. You judge a coach, by more than the number of Big Sky Championships.

How many did Blaine Taylor win with Montgomery's guys?

UM would not of kept any coach around for 15 years if they had a record like Micks.
NOR SHOULD WE
Iam not sure what you are trying to defend?
Is he a nice guy-YES
Has he won unuff in 15 years NO!

After 15 years and little results you pick, go now, go after season!

Zero, nadda, zilch.
All of Montgomery's players were gone before Taylor became Coach.

Lineage
Montgomery begot Morril
Morril begot Taylor

I believe it was:

Heathcote
Brandenberg
Montgomery
Morrill
Taylor

The first four had outstanding results at other schools as well as in frizville.

Heathcote was the most succesful in the Big Sky followed by a national championship at MSU - Lansing, with a guard called "Magic"

Nice move by the Grizzlies firing Don Holst.....they sure have improved haven't they? We would be making the same mistake by firing Mick.....

If the Cats make the NCAA tourney this season and then Mick still gets fired, then that analogy will prove to be very valid.
