I went to the UM/NAU game the other night, here's what you need to watch for with the 'Jacks
It's no secret, 3 pointers. Sir, Golob, and thier point guard who kind of sports a mullet (has a long last name) can KILL a lot of momentum by draining a few 3's. They do hit the 3's in streaks though. It was what kept them ahead of us for 3/4 of the game, when the 8:00 mark in the 2nd hit they started to miss those shots and that allowed the Griz to overtake them and eventually win the game.
Their center, Boykin, has some nice moves, he faked out Seyfert, Easly, and Strait at different times in the game, he can get around guys easily, and can shoot well 10 - 15 feet out as well.
Their weakness is they turn it over a lot, esp. in pressure situations. None of them are spectacular ball handlers and tend to get the ball slapped away when they're in close quarters. They also fall apart in zone defense and in double teams. There were 3 plays where the Griz went to a high zone and both Golob and Sir were standing all alone. The NAU guards were pressured so much they threw the ball away each time instead of dishing the ball to the two best 3 point shooters on the team.
The other weakness for NAU is their bench. They don't have much talent after their first 5.

Yeah, last game sounded like part of the problem could be blamed on the refs, but Chris hasn't said anything negative tonight about the officials. We need to play a little better regarding fouls in order to stay in this game.WYCAT wrote:What is our deal with fouls? You can only blame the refs so much. Every night we seem to be in foul trouble and it is eventually going to cost us. Maybe some of the guys watching live can shed some light tomorrow?????????
12 fouls already, OUCH!

PSU must really be hurting without the player who broke his foot.
Chris does a really good job pointing out the flaws of the scorekeepers, officials, etc.
