Interesting Superbowl Play Calling - Cats should do this

In this article I find this interesting.

"OK, the book says that you beat four wide with gut pressure. You blitz it up the middle (which fits in well with Eagle coordinator Jim Johnson's normal inclinations anyway) and make the quarterback pay when he goes to his hot read. In other words, you murder him, Buddy Ryan style.

So what did Weis do? He had Brady throw screens out of the four wide set. "I can't remember us ever doing that" Brady said. "We screen from our base offense." He completed two in a row to Corey Dillon and got his team out of a hole. Later he completed two to Kevin Faulk to set up a TD."

After the Cat/Griz game last year I was analyzing the video of Griz bringing 2 outside LB's in on the blitz and I thought we should have had the hot reads/screens a little more. The Patriots were totally spreading the field (ala last years Cats) . However, by utilizing so many wide receivers it made our pass defense open to the Blitz. So I think this is another way to smack the defense that's blitzing back in their own mouth. Those screens were KILLING the Eagles in the 2nd half in that game. I just thought this was interesting and something we for sure could do next year if we run a lot of the spread offense again.

good idea - and if they want to cover the screen - BOOM! 20 yard gain in the passing game

now hopefully we have people that can catch the ball

Patriots O cordinator makes $$$$1/2 a million. cats o cordinator makes 50K (You don't always get what you pay for) but in this case I'd have to say the Patriots brain thrust is way ahead of the cats brain thrust.

The QB has to be able to throw a pass OVER rushing linemen to make the screen work! Seems to me Lullay has problems doing that.

Not a middle screen, the gaurds and Center are short  (Fig, Brent, and Zach). If Bolton moves back to guard more of a problem. The Tackles are taller (as they need to be).
