Foxsports has an article that mentions the CATS in their matchup with OSU.
I agree that it would be great to see Mid-Major I-A teams step up and play the big boys more often. I would like to see what would happen if our CATS played a team like Memphis, Akron, UAB again, even a lesser WAC or Mountain West team like UNLV.
Having spent the last 7 years in Vegas, I am sure that the CATS, or anybody else in the BSC could have hung with UNLV. They sucked. Now, they have a new coach, so maybe things will change.
I just wanted to know what peoples takes were on this article.

My take is this: until Sam Jankovich took over the Miami athletic department, they averaged three wins a season against what is for the most part now 1-AA or mid-major teams as an independent; before Bobby Bowden took over FSU, more of the same; before Jim Sweeney went to Fresno (sorry Hill, Sweeney built the program), Fresno was more than pitiful; ten years ago, Boise State was in the Big Sky; about ten years ago, Troy State got beat by Duhhh UMMM about 70-14 in a playoff hardly a handful of people in the U.S. knew or cared about; and all of these programs wanted a measuring stick to see where they were at, so they scheduled games against the best of the best in order to guage the direction their program was headed. NDSU stated that was the reason they wanted to play the Fizzlies a couple of years ago. The SEC, ACC and Big East does not like to schedule Southern Conference teams because there's a history of Southern teams beating the major conference teams. And if one checks the history of the Southern Conference, virtually every SEC, ACC or Big East team at one time was a member of that conference (as are many MAC or Conference USA teams). I don't think there's a competitive bone in any athlete that says "Lets play this game for the money and go home." Also, playing "up" is oftentimes the only opportunity for a small school kid to get any exposure. Was anyone that posts in here alive when North Texas with Mercury Morris and Duane what's his face played in Bozo? Morris ran for about 347 yards and what's his face kept blocking until he ran crazy for a couple of years with the Cowboys before cocaine ruined his career. Will we have the depth OSU has; this year, probably because if you check their team, they're big, overweight and slow as...and our offense is something to watch. I actually enjoy going into a school system most experts feel is broken and/or incapable of performing at an outstanding level and helping turn it around and look at each and every kid in Bozo today, if you want examples of kids doing the same thing. Also, who has more national championships: Army or Tennesseee. Times change and what goes around comes around. What game did the most to turn Bobcat fans expectations around? Mine changed before the near miss against ISU.
