one contest you won tonight: the battle of the announcers. your guy is smooth, knowledegable, professional. i'd dare anybody to know the score of the game from the tone of his voice. when he expressed outrage that martin wasn't called at the end of the first half for elbowing down casey durham, i was outraged too. when the cats were facing an almost hopeless situation late in the game, he'd say, "it's still a three-possession game." he never gave up on his team, but never betrayed his allegiance. (chris atterbury?) an announcer is an important extension of any program, and he's a jewel. i wish we had him. i hope you can keep him.

Of course he's got class, just like our last announcer. And yes, I do feel sorry for the one's ya'll gotta listen to both on the radio and on television.

I was prepared for smack --- thanks for the good post. Kris is indeed a very good announcer. He has some very large shoes to fill with the departure of Dean Alexander, but I think he is doing an excellent job so far.

Kris is a class act.

The griz announcer has NO CLASS. I can not stand the lack of respect he shows other teams, esp in football.

I couldn't agree more. I think the griz announcer is probably from the same gene pool as Hauck.

In the game thread I was concerned that Kris was losing his edge. From thecitygriz post and what I read in the Chron, Kris was right on with his assessment of the officiating.

I cannot believe the officiating is this bad in the Big Sky, but from all accounts (media, fans, players, coaches) it truly is. How frustrating it must be for all teams regardless of whether they lose or win, esp. in close games. The winners have to wonder, should we have won?

Yes, keep up the good work Kris, sorry I doubted you. I've had many people who are indifferent about the Cats and Griz tell me that he is by far the superior sportscaster.

I couldn't agree more! What kills me are all the people who love him...

Chris, refs, the game

I'm in total agreement about Atteberry, and he's great at ceremonies as well. As for the officials, I have to admit that this aspect of the game is what turned me away from basketball and toward track at an early age. I have called games myself and it's not easy, so I'm not putting them down. It's like announcing, it takes a special person to ref really well. I do admire basketball for all of the skills and demands it puts on athlete and coach. It's an amazing game, but so dependent on officiating. It does seem that Martin blatantly fouled Durham all season, and got away with it. I remember turning off the radio it was so frustrating.

It's Atteberry. Let's at least get his name right. I agree he's great.

I was listening to both brodcasts until the end of the game and i could not agree with you more. But if he is going to be a Dean Alexander then he has a long way to go yet, i believe that Dean has lord knows how many years in radio, enough to perfect your craft
