Why no Bobcat Women's coach announcement?

Post by mslacat » Tue Mar 15, 2005 3:36 pm

I find it interesting that the women's basketball team season has been over for almost two
weeks and no official announcement either way as to the direction the
team/administration is going! I have heard through sources that Fields is going to open
up the coaching search beyond the current Staff, but again nothing official. Last years
recruiting class was nothing short of disastrous, and we paid the price this year. How
can Kundra recruit this spring without the reassurance from the admin. that he will be
back. On the other hand if we are going to hire someone new let's get on it and get them
in. To that extent I wonder why didn't we just bite the bullet last spring and hire a coach
strait up. We could not have hurt our recruiting any worse than what we did and at least
we would have had a coach NOW that could be recruiting and selling his/her program.

I think Fields owes it to the Players, coaches and fans/alumni to let us know officially what the heck is going on!

Isn't there some kind of grounds that Potera could use to further her case if we had appointed or hired a new coach before she got her "hearing". I beleive that's why McCarthy was an interim coach too...Sheehan's case was still pending.

The difference between the two coaches was that Sheehan was "fired" mid stream / contract. Potera simply did not have her one year contract renued at the end of the season.

Kudrna said on the radio the other day they were hoping for a decision by April 1. (no this is not an April fools joke).

Spoelstra got fired from Oregon, maybe they'll want her back. She was winning when she left.

Belgrade
Is this a decision on whether to keep Kudrna, if not go looking for a coach or is this we will have an official head coach either way named by April 1.
