I dont see our offense putting up the gawdy numbers they did last year, but that doesnt mean this years version is not as good. I actually think it will be much improved, just am not expecting to see 500 yard outputs from Lulay.
This year will be all about balance. Teams will not be able to force the Cats into a one-dimensional game this season that is for sure. And that improved running game will be the biggest boost this years defense will get.

I split out the talk about EWU and the Griz teams to a seperate thread in the College Sports forum. Let's try to keep things somewhat on track here. Thanks.

I can easily see this offense (if the line stays healthy) AVERAGING 500 yards/game in the BSC and its historically anemic defenses. The running back AND receiver positions may be the best/deepest ever, if spring ball is any indication. Couple that with #14 back for his final campaign and I believe we haven't seen an O like this since '84.
300 yards/game passing, 200 rushing sounds good to me...

I've seen this exact post on eGriz about a 1000 times an offseason. Come on people, our offense is going to be good, but to say this is the best RB situation we've ever had....what an insult to Don Hass, Ryan Johnson and Matt Engleking. And 300/200 a game average...please, what a pipe dream. We can get one or the other, but to average both is crazy.El_Gato wrote:I can easily see this offense (if the line stays healthy) AVERAGING 500 yards/game in the BSC and its historically anemic defenses. I totally agree. I think that we are gonna be deep at almost every position on offense. I was thinking more like 600 yards a game.El_Gato wrote:I can easily see this offense (if the line stays healthy) AVERAGING 500 yards/game in the BSC and its historically anemic defenses. As many concerns as we have right now on defense, I think that we will be great again. Kramer has been lauding his defense for years and last year it let him down. I really don't think that that will happen this year.

CP,
At the RB position, it sounds like we have 3 talented backs which I can't ever remember being the case before. Is any 1 of them better than the guys you named? Absolutely not. My comments were not an insult to them. But, in Rhino's case anyway, what did we have behind him? NADA! Remember when he sat out against the High School team from Central Washington? What was the result of that game? I'm sure if we'd have had the depth it appears we do now, that embarassing loss would not have occurred...

I see where you are going with that now. Thanks for the clarity. Depth then, is as good as we've had in recent memory, but not necessarily quality. Then again, this OL is as good as any we have had in recent memory (both depth and talent wise), and those hogs up front could make JD and crew look very very good.El_Gato wrote:CP,
