After Mick announced his signees, I queried the Bobcat Nation as to whether, after his campus visit, Chaz Dykes turned the Bobcats down or the Bobcats turned him down. Nobody responded. I am still curious. Anybody have any insight as to why Chaz signed with SFA instead of MSU? Perhaps he lost interest when he learned that he would be playing behind Dissley at the two spot?

I do not think Chaz even tripped to MSU. Those who I talked to in Bozeman are quite sure he did not. Based on what I heard Durham felt the team need more depth at the off guard /small forward "wing", and were recruiting quite a few jc and high school wing players for next year. When the season ended the coaches narrowed their recruiting emphasis to JC (or players they felt could contribute right away) thus players like McGillis were cut from the list, and I hear that they felt this years team lacked the dead eye 3 point shooter we have had when they made runs for Big Sky titles before. Chaz is a very good scorer but is listed as a "can hit a three point shot" guy not a dead eye.. I would venture to say that Durham and company chose to trip and offer Derrick Edmonds because 3 point expertice. I can not confirm this so it is also possible Chaz just desided not to trip to MSU and that is why we signed Edmonds.

3-pt shooters? How 'bout a friggin' dead-eye rebounder? The Cats have made 4 or 5 good runs in the last 25 years, and in every case, they did it on rebounding, not 3-pt shooting.

Last year we did show flashes of being a good rebounding team once conference rolled
around. Moss flat a good rebounder, Dissly has all the tools to be a great rebounder but
does not always want to mix it up inside, and Jefferson is the best rebounding guard in
the league. I think the key is the center position. when we were able to have a big body
in the center it seemed that overall every one did a better job of rebounding. While I
know Beye may not technically "Big Body" when he was able to say in the game and
rebound well even with Towsley in the center during conference (well for the few game
we had him) over all we did a great job of rebounding. Heck we destroyed lead leading
Weber on the board during the first game. What really killed us I think was when we had
to put Moss or Pratt in the center. They had a harder time against bigger players and then
there was a domino effect with the rest of the players when they were put there. I really
think this team has the making for a solid rebounding next year , but I think the coaches
need to address it big time in the preseason.
