Big Sky Conference Presidents Cup

Once again MSU is at the top of the heap with the Big Sky Conference's year end Presidence Cup award, with only a few sports left to. Below is a link to the latest calculations for the award ( dated April 28 2005). The article put out by the Big Sky Conference states that UM has a slight lead over MSU and EWU, but as I read the article MSU has a 11.0 average per sport (don't ask me how they came up with this number or what it exactly means) while UM has a 10.3 . That would give us the lead Not UM. What am I missing here! Any way the men have already wrapped up their side as top mens program in the conference.
I also think we need to give some positive enchoragement to the team from Missoula. Way to go UM you keep this up and you will shake your "One Sport University" title .

On pure sports, it shows MSU ahead as you indicated with 11.0, but when they included academic performance numbers, UM and Eastern Washington jumped into the picture.

State does a good job with sports nobody watches, "Track, tennis, rodeo, indoor track, cross country." U of M does good with sports people care about...BB womens and men, Football. I'm sure if the U had a Baseball team they do well also. You'd think with all the fast track guys state has they'd be able to find one with some football talent.

I read about that this morning -- that's really cool. Having been a former middle distance runner (not at the college level -- I burned out before that point and probably didn't have the talent to compete anyway), I remember there definitely being a feeling of fraternity among the competitors. It's an exclusive club of those who willfully go through that much pain on a regular basis in the name of competition. I admire those track athletes more than any other athletes out there. They don't get the credit they deserve. I think few people appreciate the excitement that those races generate, either. When I was at the Olympic trials, all the TV cameras cared about was the glamour events (100, 200, etc.), but the crowd went crazy for the middle and long distance running events. There's nothing like watching a 10K and seeing these guys running each lap faster than 99% of the population could run one lap ... and then expecting them all of let up towards the end out of exhaustion ... and to then see them kick it up a notch into a full sprint as soon as one runner makes his/her move in one of the last laps. It's good stuff. Best of luck to Casey!

Lady Griz soccer has been pretty good since its inception. I think they have been in the BSC championship almost every year.

This is why i hate Fizz fans - all other sports are meaningless besides FB and BB. What a jerkoff this guy is. I used to think he was somewhat ok, but he has just proved to me that he is no different than your average, annoying, ignorant Fizz fan. BTW, if dUMb had a Baseball team, they would be too Stoned or Juiced to pass the drug tests.

Now the big test ... will jagur agree with grizzh8r as well? The bar has been raised.

Lets distinguish between mens hoops and womens hoops. Typical UM fan does not support UM hoops - other than womens team.

2004 Attendance Figures.
School Games Attendance Avg Att.
Montana 14 50,468 3,605
Montana St. 15 54,665 3,644
MSU averaged only 39 more people per game more than UM, so if the typical UM fan does not support mens hoops, looking at these numbers, I would say the same can be said for MSU fans.

Oh sure, you can trot out your fancy facts, but I think you have the tone of your conclusion wrong. It should be: MSU average 39 MORE FANS THAN UM!!!! We so totally beat you guys for superfan status on this one. It wasn't one fan, or even two fans, but 39 MORE FANS!!!!!
Yeah, I'm in a strange mood today. It's Friday.

Good to see UM still doesn't give a crap about any sports besides BBall and FBall.
Be proud of that Jag, be very proud.

So grizzh8r, how many track meets/ tennis matches have you been to?
If one can answer with a strickly positive number, then one can crticize jagur1's view that no one cares about the sports. However, since 95+% of the discussion on this board (and attendence at Montana State) is in BB men's/women's and football, jagur1 does have a point.

There is a difference the way you put it and the way jag put it. He basically slammed all other sports... That is what ticked everyone off...
