How will the BSC finsish?

Post by mquast53000 » Tue May 24, 2005 1:36 pm

We have really hit on a lot of topics so far since spring football came and went, but we really haven’t broken down the conference as a whole yet. Let’s hear some predictions on the coming football season. How is the conference going to shake out? This is what I think:

Montana State (tough call with Eastern, but I am a little bias)
Eastern Washington
Montana (could be 2nd or 4th)
Portland (when ever they have expectations they blow it)
NAU (always a good team, good QB)
Idaho State (for lack of a better spot - heck I forgot them)
Weber (stick to BB)
Sac (Weber vs Sac = Toilet Bowl)

My prediction:

Eastern Washington (too many weapons returning to pick against)
Montana State (If we shore up the defense we can give Eastern a real run)
Montana (I hope they finish no better than 3rd)
Portland State (Could be anywhere from 2nd to 5th IMO)
Northern Arizona (Murietta is enough to ensure they aren't worse than 5th)
Sacramento State (Mole returning is enough to ensure they aren't last)
Idaho State (don't know why but here they are)
Weber State (new coach, new talent, same results for now)

If it were to finish this way I don't see how the BSC wouldn't put 3 teams in the playoffs since there is no way the griz won't get in unless they don't finish better than .500. Eastern and the friz hosting playoff games and us on the road.

The Cats
EWU
PSU
dUMb
Weber
NAU, ISU
SAC

This order is predicated upon the kids winning 2 of the first 3 conference games. Schedule gods are smiling on us this year in conference as we've only got to go to Ogden 10/8 and then to Portland on 10/15 before getting a bye week to heal for 3 out of 4 at home to finish the year. The game in Cheney may not be for the title as so many early season predictions have said because if you look at how many kids NAU lost 2 years ago on their line and what happened to them at think of just losing Roos, EWU is going to have to have some kind of OL coaching to get their offense going this year.

EWU- even though they have to come to Msla
Griz- this will be a lot lower if our QB does not step up
MSU- will all your injuries in spring come back to haunt you
NAU- Souers on the hot seat?
PSU- Perenial chokers in games the should win
WSU
Sac St
ISU

Does anybody even really care about the last 3?

I do, because we start with 2 of them. McBride ALWAYS has HUGE linemen and running backs and will try to smash your face--if we get beat up on the line in Ogden before going to Portland, it's going hurt down the stretch and affect playoffs seeds.

MSU- like mquast I'm biased. Eastern will be tough & we're on the road, but I think the Cats will win if the "D" gels.

EWU- Even though they have to play in the house that Denny built- they always play the Griz tough.

UM- Have good 'D' & the best RB in the BSC, but many questions at QB.

PSU- Could easily finish 3rd if UM doesn't put points on the board.

NAU- No reason, just think this where they'll finish.

WSU

ISU

Sac. St.

It's not winning 2 out of the first 3 you need to worry about, it's losing 2 of the last 3

Hmmmm...this will be an interesting year. It's too close to call. Eastern has a tough schedule, and they can't stop anyone. The Cats will be bruised coming into conference. "They" are always good. NAU will rebound, and surprise some folks. I think the conference winner will have 2 conference losses this year.

Tied for 1st: Cats, them, Eastern and NAU. Followed by SAC, ISU and PSU in that order.

Spent a great deal of time reading this; what sticks out to me other than the losses on the OL (I'm pretty biased here because I'm so small and know who opens the holes and protects  ) is the little bit found in and below Wulffs assessment; that is, 10 of the 12 kids that graduated were All-Big Sky performers. With their schedule being almost as punishing as PSU's, I think they're going into the season with the same type of hype NAU had last year and their kids simply won't have time to get it together, especially with only 5 home games. PSU looks, bigger, faster and stronger everytime I go into their roster--pretty scary.

I disagree, I feel EWU is going to be very tough. The combination of Eric Meyer and Eric Kimble will be very expolsive. Add to the mix a D1 drop down RB from Oregon and their game will be tough to defend against. Their 2005 schedule is tough and mark my words EWU will be the team to beat. Unfortunately MSU has to play them away, we will be very lucky to pull out a W in this contest. I think MSU will tie with EWU for BSC champs. Any takers on a bet?

Okay, I'll take that bet. I predict the same type of season Murietta suffered through last year. As I've got season tickets, I'll collect when we take out nearly 20 years of frustration on Nov 19 in Bozo. I drink Miller, by the way, so stock up. A case (as in 24 instead of those new, convenient 30 packs) of my favorite barley brew against like brand sound reasonable?

Cat Grad, The bet is on, I also have season tickets in section 105. When it comes time to pay me I will give out the row and seat #. However if I lose, and I hope I do, its section 105. My choice of Barley Pop is Becks, but a 12 pack will do. We can probably consume the winnings after the 11/19 victory! :D

MSU Bobcats first, everyone else behind them, enough said.

That's the way I look at it every year in the pre-season.

ny prediction for big sky conference standings:

1) cats: Tough pre season schedule sharpens them up for a patty cake season schedule

2) griz: Two words: Conf. Sleepers, but can go anywhere from 1st to last...Qb turnover free play is the key

3) EWU: Everything I have seen from this team in the playoffs says bad expectations. has to be the conferences worst d, combined with an overworked meyer, kimble and company not to mention a trip to msla spells 3rd place

4) NAU: Will their Qb let them get any lower?

5-??? WHO GIVES A RIP?? THEY ARE ALL A BUNCH OF SLACKERS

This space for rent....

Maybe not last, but they sure the hell are not going to be first. Of course I would not mind the griz being last...
